I thought this is a pretty neat idea.
Anyone ever done anything like this?

A reasonable idea, I think the shape of our pan would require a large billet to be used. The IPS pan seems to work.

Also, our pans are already pretty much at the bottom of the car. Any lower and it would be the lowest thing under the car, which would worry me.

I thought that was pretty neat idea. Now that I think about it, the T-case wouldn't fit.

Yeah and we have those pesky turbo oil return tubes to deal with :( Would be nice to have a simple solution as for the Z.

A big ass oil cooler would increase your oil capacity?

I run a bigger pan, windage tray and scrapers on my Monte.

I would think a big accumulator would probably be a better investment on our cars than trying to just increase pan capacity.

Pretty clever.. would help maintain oil pressure around bends and help keep it cool. Bummer it won't work on our cars. I don't want to spend the money on an IPS pan or mess with getting a bigger oil cooler so I will probably try the bigger K&N filter as Forest discovered.

What was the K&N filter? I hadn't heard about that one.

You have a dry sump, don't you? So probably wouldn't really apply to you but for stock guys it adds a little extra oil and has a bigger element for a few bucks more an oil change.

I don't have a dry sump, stock oiling system other than the cooler. (and sump pump because the low mounted turbo)
That's a great thread, too much info really. It looks like the K&N was the overall winner, eh?

Someone needs to make something like this for the 3/S.

I just saw something like that for the S2000 in a magazine I was reading last night. Pretty cool!

Why not just get the extended capacity pan Ips sells?
