Just bought my first car and was a 3k for 1,775. It works well mechanically but the paint is in bad shape. It's chipping on the hood and roof and may be rusting in these areas. (found a chip or two with rust spots) will post pics tomorrow, cuz its late tonight. Looking for some advice on something cheap i could do to protect it and help it look better while i save to get it professionally repainted. Live in AZ so heat is a problem.

Thanks.

Try just using some touch up paint in the chips. You can usually fill in chips with virtually no detection depending on color. But if the paint is crap, then it will just protect the metal from the elements.

If the paint isn't in that great of condition and you plan to get it repainted soon anyways, you could always just spray some rust converter on those areas until you get it repainted. It'll look like you sprayed flat black paint on your car, but it'll prevent the rust from getting any worse in those areas.
