Hey guys,

The Subaru dealership we had my fiancee's car at disconnected the AC for some reason. I bought an AC manifold and vacuum pump to fill it back up, but I have a few questions:

1a. Should I add more oil? I'm not sure if it gets sucked out when they disconnect it or not.
1b. Do I have to distribute it between the compressor/condensor/etc.?
1c. What kind should I use? Under the hood it says ND Oil 8 which I can't find. People say PAG 46 works but I'm not sure.
1d. The oil won't get sucked out when I apply vacuum, right?

Anything else I should know? I was just going to swap the dryer, apply vacuum, possibly add oil, and add the 134a.

Any reason why you're not having the dealership do this?

(on their dime, of course)

Sorry, I don't have anything useful to add :(

I recharged mine with the connectors and vac pump. It has been a while but there are some good youtube videos that helped me.

Edit: When I say recharged mine, I was actually talking about my 2.5rs and not my vr4. I have a bunch of subaru forum pages open and 3000gt forum stuff up. Funny you posted a subaru question on a 3000gt forum:) Really messed with my head for a minute.

Didn't really think of having them do it for free. Doubt it would happen though. They charged her Dad to tear down the engine just to see if they would pay for the engine. Then said they wouldn't pay.. big surprise. They didn't even need to disconnect the AC to do what they did..

I'll take a look on YouTube, thanks. And I can imagine that would throw you off haha!
