1st Pass -- Boost peaked at ~20psi; tire pressure 14psi cold. Intended to be a shakedown pass. Bogged the launch BAD and smacked the limiter on every shift..! LOL The car hooked nicely to say the least, and tracked straight as an arrow with my new alignment. 11.69 @ 131.32MPH w/ 2.10 60....

2nd Pass -- Boost peaked at 23.6psi; steady 23psi. Got more aggressive with the launch and spun fairly hard. Clean pass otherwise but smacked my 7400RPM rev-limiter right at the traps. 10.41 @ 138.31MPH w/ 1.61 60'

3rd Pass -- No changes. Spun hard on the launch and spun hard and wheel-hopped through 2nd gear.. 10.63 @ 137.69MPH w/ 1.68 60'

vids below

4th Pass -- Dropped tire pressure to 14psi (warm). Bogged the launch BAD and short-shifted 3-4 which hurt my 1/8 MPH. 10.66 @ 138.35MPH w/ 1.75 60'

vids below

I really wanted to make another pass but it was getting dark and the temp was dropping so we decided to pack it in. Overall I'm pretty damn pleased with how things went first time out! I knew the 7400RPM limiter with a 26" tire was going to be an issue beforehand. I didn't plan to turn it up any farther today since 22-23psi is my VP110 'street tune' which I get locally at the pump.

Good work!, launches really well for rwd.

I haven't been to the drags for a couple of years now, need to pull my finger out this year..

Always get a little nervous when staged and ready to go lol.

That is awesome, great runs. Ive never been to the track, so watching all your videos is a great motivation. I do know it will take a lot of work to be as consistent as this.

Nice! Man, from the sound of it, it stays in the power really well.

What do you know, a 3.0L trapping 138 on 23 psi. Same as my old Stealth did at the exact same psi. On very similar singles, as well. 74GTQ vs. an off the shelf 4202. Both cammed, both 4" dp... All you need now is meth and juice, and make 1000 wheel. :D

God damn video looks like you hit warp speed! Can't believe how hard it launches and pulls. Come take me for a ride.. I'll clean the seat afterwards.

It leaves nicely, even without the aid of a 2-step/Antilag. I had the car re-aligned a few weeks back and it made a HUGE difference on the street. I’ve got a little work to do to figure out the tire pressure, launch RPM, etc.. combo to get it consistent out of the hole. I really need to get the 60’ down into the 1.5’s which I think I can do without the Antilag box I’ve got.

Get back out there!

Get out there and do it! I met a 3s member at the track for his first passes, and I think he had a good time. It's such a worthwhile experience, IMO (obviously). You'll learn more about your driving and your setup in the first few passes then you ever could on the street alone.

This combo is really clicking for sure. I’m super impressed with the power output at such low boost numbers. No way it will make 1000 wheel without a BIG shot, though…! The highest dyno I’ve seen from a 74Q was just hair over 900WHP. That was from like 2001-2002 at TX2k when Tozer set the stock bottom end record. The 4202 will have a little more up top due to the larger exhaust wheel, but the 74Q is likely a bit more responsive. Once it’s lit, the re-spool is absolutely instantaneous, even shifting as low as 7000RPM.

Congrats!

Thanks, man!

It really rips up top! I probably need to upgrade my camera (cellphone) mount to try and mitigate the vibration and blur. Rides are always available – bring some C16 and we’ll ride until the tank is empty..! :bigthumb:

Oh yeah, I know. That was a tongue in cheek comment. :p

Man in the 10:63 vid it's like 2nd gear is non-existent!

Looks like it went to ludicrous speed in video!

Can you talk about your alignment strategy?

Great Runs!

I'm glad you get to post vids of your progress with the car after various of tweaks and setup swaps - it's cool to watch it evolve from back when it was virtually bpu esque to now with a turbo swap and seeing the gains.

you need a 300xz now and you have all the 90s Japanese supercars

Ahhh… Yeah, figured as much, but now I think I get the reference...

It spun and wheel-hopped badly banging into 2nd on that run – that was a first for me at the track.

I’ll follow up on detailed alignment specs as I don’t have them in front of me. The front setup is mostly personal preference. On the rear, the short answer was to remove as much negative camber in the rear as the stock hardware will allow, with very very minimal toe. I went from what was a fairly aggressive, more road race-oriented alignment (-2.8deg) to my current setup (-0.45) and it made a HUGE difference, especially on the street.

That's a HUGE part of this hobby for me. A lot of the fun is tracking the incremental changes and learning what works and what doesn't. What's BS and what's fact in the real world, etc... :)

I’d rather have an NSX. :p Honestly, I have zero interest in owning a 300ZX. I came close to buying one a few times, but I’ve pretty much lost all interest at this point. Other than owning one just to say I’ve had all of the 90’s supercars, it doesn’t really serve a tangible purpose for me. I’ve been around them long enough through friends and acquaintances that I’ve learned enough by proxy to know all I need to know about them.

This. Since no targa for 3S, I'll take a 95 targa NSX in black.

The NSX is on my list of cars to own. You can pick up a clean example, enjoy it for however long and then re-sell it for easily what you've got into it. Not really an 'investment', but you can park money there and recoup later little risk. Sounds familiar... :) Coincidentally, the guy I picked the '99 VR-4 up from had a black NSX-T that was his daily.

I think I know who you bought that car from. So he sold it instead of keeping it and mode it.
