Glovebox hinges etc

The plastic hinges on my 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT have finally broken.
That's 22 years so I can't complain too much.
Anyway I need a pair of hinges & also the side stops which are also broken.
Anyone have these bits?
Willing to fork out reasonable sum to complete the repair.

I manufactured my own - hand-beaten and formed - kind of an idle task, and more effort than was necessary; one (2?) of a kind, in any case.

After I was done, it occurred to me modifying an existing hinge would be easier...find a suitable hinge in the hardware section (Menards, Home Depot, etc.) that will accommodate the stock pins, then apply a bit of heat to achieve the slight offset required.

After that, cut your new hinge to length and ream to final fit the pins.

It may be overkill, but you won't have to worry about broken hinges anymore, and it's truthfully less work than you might think. :)

I had considered that, but if someone can supply, that's much easier mainly because the side stops can't be easily made.
Could substitute light chain or equivalent.
Interestingly I have located in New Zealand a supplier who wants NZ$45 (delivered to Australia) for these bits which seems a bit steep but would save a lot of work.

I'll tell you, with these cars, there's something to be said for 'paying the price'. :)

I did what I did cuz I had what I needed to do it that way, and I had the time - it's not for everybody.

I did mine with 1"x3/32" strap, rather than an existing hinge; if I had done it as I suggested you do, it would have been about an hour's work, frankly.

I did it cuz the old frail plastic promised to fail again, at some point - the ones I made will outlast the car.

The side-catches/retainers are a different story...I'd bet Mitoska could beat the price you've quoted...:wink:

I didn't know either. My original one had a piano hinge, but the lock was FUBAR. The replacement had plastic hinges that broke. The 3rd one has a piano hinge.

It's just one of those things that you don't know unless you've been hands on with a few different parts/years. Another one I picked up is that the cruise lever is different on 94-96 steering wheels than on 97-99 steering wheels. The shrouds are different too. You'd never know this kinda stuff on the fly...only what CAPS has.
