Here is what they posted:

Hi folks! CARiD.com is glad to offer you a new product. With Lumen® - LED Halo Rings (http://www.carid.com/universal-headlights/lumen-led-halo-rings-15856330.html), you will add unique style to the front of your vehicle and increase the light output. They are available in a variety of diameters and colors for you to choose from. And check out the video we have to find step-by-step installation instructions. What do you think of the product?

My Response:

Please explain how this is going to increase light output as this statement is just blowing my mind right now....

They are available in a variety of diameters and colors for you to choose from.

You obviously know nothing about these cars with this statement as there is only one size that fits the projector lenses.

And check out the video we have to find step-by-step installation instructions

Vague step-by-step instruction for a completely different car and a video that looks like it was made in the 80's

Even your website is hilarious, When the hell did they make a 2000 and 2001 3000gt? You have parts listed that are not even close to being compatible with this platform.

Are you purposely out to scam and rip people off?

We all know that 3si is owned by people that only care about money generated from sponsors. They don't give a rat's ass about who sponsors them, as long as they get paid.

It was just a generic thread probably posted on all autoguide owned sites.... Certainly not advertised or designed to be 3S specific. Maybe next we'll see some electric superchargers, and performance chips..

Your post probably won't last long... They didn't pay autoguide money to have bad stuff posted about the product.

It's a canned ad that goes on all autoguide forums. I'm going to play devil's advocate here, since I think you were a tad harsh on them.

As far as increased light output, technically it does. I've used the "daytime running light" thing in my ads. Their ad is just poorly worded, and they should put a disclaimer is doesn't replace your actual headlights. I don't know about the halos they are advertising, but I know the halos I got from superbrightled easily could be used as foglights they were so bright LOL.

And for the record, I used three different sized halos for our headlights: 80mm for headlights that keep inserts, 85mm for 99 headlights, and 90mm for robo modded headlights. And the 60mm might work for the foglights.

Their video is generic, just like a majority of all the video for installing halos. I learned the hard way that you cannot bake open all headlights. Luckily, there are numerous write-ups for our headlights, they should have took the time to link on of those threads than their generic video.

I didn't watch the entire video, because I have crappy internet... as soon as I saw the heatgun I knew what they were doing. I was saying all headlights, as in every make and model. I know for a fact you cannot bake open Challenger headlights. You can melt the housing away from the lens, but you cannot bake them open, the glue is unbakeable LOL.

stealthee
01-26-2014, 01:24 PM
Oh, I thought you were still on 3s headlights.

So are you implying that you tried to bake to Challenger lights open? :suspect:

dbest671
01-26-2014, 01:34 PM
3S headlights don't sell like they used too, so I've moved away from headlights all together. I haven't messed with a set in over a year.

Of course I tried to bake them open because AAC said they could and they "do them all the time". What they forgot to mention is once you melt the housing away from the lens (took me 6 hours), you still have to cut through that glue Chrysler used. Shit is like tire rubber. The second headlight was cut open with a dremel in 5 minutes LOL.

Well, April, I might be able to talk Milt into shipping my 99 lights to you for modding...if you're interested.

As to AF, I think the number of likes I dished out in this thread should indicate my sentiments towards them. They still don't play fair--3SGTO is till a taboo phrase over there (whether in website form or just offhand). And it doesn't help that there are so many people playing both sides of the fence, posting threads on both sites (SinVR4 is a prime example).

Builds should be posted here. I would argue even against putting them on us3s or other 3/s forums, simply because they aren't banned by 3sdie, and no one on that site should be able to access information over here without making a deliberate attempt at it. I don't want people visiting some random small-traffic site to see build info, and then reverting to satan's lair to discuss it. Pics, discussion, how-to's...they all belong on HERE.

And oh yeah, if I take new pics of my car for a build thread or COTM submission, I'm not above putting a giant sign in the window that says 3SGTO.ORG in the window. Fuck the draconian sensor assclowns at 3sdie; every last one of them, especially including dpfdipshit.

I think I'm done with headlights... it's really not worth the time and effort for me anymore.

Thadd, we pretty much know your sentiments about everything... so you really don't need to dish out the likes.

And the term 3sgto isn't exactly taboo, it just depends on how you use it ;). You mention 3sgto without being a complete ass, you will usually get a way with it. Lord knows I've mentioned 3sgto on a few occasions. But when you blatantly spam 3sgto while at the same time saying how 3si blows... yeah it gets deleted and you're warned/suspended/banned/. It's all about tact ;). And if it blows so bad, then do go over there... simple enough.

Most newish people on "that" site don't even know about this site since the topic is taboo. Im unsure of the reason the TX people have being more active there than here; excluding Adam, Steven and myself that I know of.

Im still on both, but only replying in threads and not making anything new. I wish others would jump ship too; bringing all the knowledge here and let Nelson and the noobs figure it out for themselves.

1. That's unfortunate, but I understand.

2. Still a free country, and I'm not afraid to call someone a douche-canoe to their face. Lots of people have opinions; I can defend mine. That's probably what irritates people more than anything--that I don't simply have an opinion, that I will engage you on specifically why I feel that way. The unwashed masses like for their opinionated people to have baseless reasons behind the madness...it makes it much easier to disregard their opinions.

3. Terrific. I'm glad MAYBE something has changed. It used to be that you couldn't even THINK "3sgto" while logged into 3sdie...or else face the ban-hammer. And I disagree with your assessment. You might be able to make a casual remark about 3sgto and if so, I'm happy for you. If I wasn't already banned, and I went over there and didn't even mention 3sgto--instead simply posted an eloquent, non-threatening, well-stated, factually-referenced statement on exactly why 3si (under AF ownership) has been alienating the community and has acted on numerous occasions in a manner which indicated that profiteering is the chief concern (even outweighing safety)--I'd get perma-banned before you could type out "dpfsharkbait".

I know you and I will never see eye to eye on this. It also saddens me to the core that Jeff still believes the "rift" can be healed. I have an insane amount of respect for him, but I could not possibly disagree with him more on his sentiments towards 3si. 3si isn't changing--it's being propped up by co-dependant enablers who keep frequenting that site...and worse, posting on it.

Completely disagree. The internet is VERY important. It has rekindled the power of mom & pop businesses to compete on the same playing field as big box retailers. It has dramatically improved the speed with which I can access information which I would otherwise have a hard time locating (or wouldn't be able to access at all).

The internet has a built-in Nielsen-Ratings-style feature; it counts website hits. Naturally, this flow of consumers, bloggers, chatters, etc....can direct how and what things are offered on the internet. The power is in the voice of consumers. Microsoft, for example, did a complete 180 on DRM for the XBone....because consumers complained. Businesses do change their tactics.

In that light, I cannot help but judge those who frequent 3si (or worse, pay membership dues there) as complicit in SANCTIONING what AF is doing. I don't expect everyone to understand this concept. After all, the USA also has gone along hook, line and sinker for the NSA spying on everyone and their great-grandmother...and hasn't made a peep about it until Snowden NARC'd. History shows that people are often too complacent until it is far too late & the damage has been done.

Again, you're going on about this like 3si/3sgto/insert any car forum here - are massively important in the overall scheme of things. Once you break down what they are, a social gathering where members talk shit, show stuff off and find information, you should realise that there are more important things to put your whining into. (gun debates and how bad apple are vs pc's ;) ) You can rant and rave about opression and the government and AF and blah blah till you're blue in the face. FOR ME, I just come for the conversation and that's all forums. There are pests and idiots at all forums, but you learn to get along, or use the ignore feature. :)

Scooter, if we were talking about laptops, tech news, video games, etc...I'd agree with you. There's plenty of sites out there that cater to all of those things.

We're talking about the 3/s platform. It's a niche market at best & of those who own them, MAYBE 50% are actually on a 3/s forum of some type. Succinctly, there's not many options out there. Furthermore, the 3/s is one of those cars where you REALLY need to know information on how to maintain it. It's not like a mustang, where you can take it to any 2-bit mechanic and he'll probably have a decent idea on how to work on it. Access to that information is rather vital to ownership--and moreso for new owners.

The other forums I joined are all based around the idea of not just promoting the flow of information, but on furthering the platform/topic/etc. That's the key reason why I join them--because it's not just "shooting the shit", but about progression, forward momentum & change for the better.

AF does none of that with 3si. So maybe to a "casual observer" who just wants to goof off and hang out, 3si is great. To those who actually LOVE the 3/s platform, it's a plague on humanity. And no, I will NOT overlook--or forgive--their response to Alan on pulling an ad that had proven to be malicious.

Yes, forums like 3si and 3sgto ARE important and have loads of great info, but it's not the be all and end all of the 3/S platform. Take 3STech. You can only join there if your I.Q is 758 or more. Doesn't seem very fair to those who want the information they have, but shit people get over it and don't even mention them any more as far as bitching goes. (cept that fucking Australian) It's a shame we all can't get along. It's a shame we can't have one big forum with free, no ads, no idiotic people. But that's life, I move on. You can call me a sheep, drone, whatever, but I love this platform and am happy to frequent 3si, 3sgto and other Mitsu forums because I have two kids who deserve most of my attention so it's not missdirected at whinging and complaining about irrelevant shit. :) Maybe it's because I'm 40 now, as I'm sure I would possibly agree with you  and where you're coming from if I was 10 to 15 years younger.

The truth is, people who are not members assume members are elitist pricks with huge egos, when time and time again just reading the comments about the site makes it obvious it's the other way around.

If you REALLY wanted to be a member over there, you might want to start by checking that ego at the door. It's not how smart you are (several members are engineers, most aren't), it's not how fast your car is (top 2 fastest 3S owners aren't there), it's not about how popular you are, so i guess the answer is a lot simpler.

I don't typically talk about 3SI anymore. May I present a possibility? People on here are very passionate about their platform and what they sink a lot of time, blood, sweat, and money into. There are city, state, and National gatherings in multiple countries. While I am not an 3S owner anymore, there stands a chance that enthusiasts of the platform look after it dearly. Thus, if a corporate structure intervenes with not only a numbers driven website, but the community as a whole, it seems like that is not only something that would take notice, but a situation many enthusiast would take quite personally. If you don't, that is your own perogative. I certainly would not discount others for doing so.

I don't remember what happened with your application, but there's a lot of times they just "time-out" due to inactivity, not denial. Has the unintentional (or Grayson knew exactly it would happen) effect of keeping most of the "butthurt" out, though, which is nice.

Scotty, "taking the piss" means a lot different thing in the USA than the UK/downunder, lol.

Mine was specifically rejected, with the vote count noted in my application thread. :) Not sure why, but I just said "oh well" and moved on.

Last month I responded to a survey on 3si. All the questions were related to car and part purchase decisions. AF is clearly not there to promote a "community."
