Called my local body shop that has done really good work for me in the past. Still need to stop by for estimate, as the back of this car is pretty faded got to love red. Sounds like $400 a panel if I have the car painted same color. Does that sound about right? And a color change could be 6-7k or more.

I have not painted a car since 1997! Back then I had used PGP paint and old style guns my dad had, not the HVLP. I'm debating painting it myself if it needs more than a few panels done. Sure it's not easy but as long as I can keep most dirt out.. 6-7k+ is well wow. Even if it needed body work I could have them do that and I'd do the rest.

What have been your experiences with paint costs?

I was quoted 7k to do a full respray on my '92 Fiji blue about 2 years ago. I think the shop was full of themselves...

Same color yet.. wow.. Yeah this place told me they don't color sand unless it has dust in the clear. Man.. the motor options one could have off 7k. I can buy som pretty good guns, compressor, drier, and.. for a few hundred.

7k lol?

yeah I'd say buy your own equipment if you have a good place to paint. or buy a tent lol.

start practicing on the front fenders. when/if it turns out well, keep going with the rest.

btw. black roof on a red 3s looks pretty good imo.

Took the car in to have it looked at turns out doesn't need a paint job. The car was repainted by Mitsubishi back in the 98 because the clear peeled. That means the car has three layers of clear. So I'm taking it to a professional detailing place they are going to color sand to 3000 grit then buff and polish as well as detail the interior.

Too bad my digital climate control decided to stop responding today. That was next on my list. Hope it's just the caps it lights up but won't turn off and some buttons no longer work.
