I have a '94 that has a loud knock at around 3000 RPMs. At idle the engine is fine. It also lost all oil pressure and died when the knock started, but will start and idle fine.

Any suggestions?

If you have a loss of oil pressure I bet you just spun a bearing. Does it get louder with more rpms? You can drain your oil first to check for metal flakes and also cut open the oil filter to see what it looks like. I would pull your pan and check the bearings but I have a feeling it's already too late.

When it knock starts it is the same loudness even at higher RPMs.

I will post a video when I get home today. Also the oil pressure is reading (normal I hope) the same as when I bought the car.

Here is the link to the video. The first rev is about 3200 and the second is 4000.

That is what I am afraid of. I did have a mechanic friend of mine listen to it, and he doesn't think it is a spun bearing due to the idle. He hasn't worked on a 3K in years though and is a little stumped by the sound. I guess it is going to be one of those take it apart and see things. lol

Also, does anyone know of a good place to pick up an engine that would just be a pull and drop for a decent price?
