I hope this will become an informational & helpful thread for those that find this datalogging solution attractive. Here is the store link: EVODROID7: EvoScan 7" Android GPSNav CarPC *PRE ORDER NOW* (http://www.evoscan.com/evoscan-gps-obdii-cables/details/35/1/performance-vehicle-pc-diagnostic-interfaces/evodroid7--evoscan-7)
I have this setup on my 94 TT with a stock ECU.
I've had this setup for about a month and there are issues. (I couldn't find a single thread on either forum for it!) The most annoying is the almost constant disconnect and reconnect of the cable. During that process the App likes to crash which requires you to exit and reopen. Frustrating x 10. I've had slightly better luck with the tablet laying on my lap - unfortunately that is the last place I'd like it while doing pulls. The check engine light also flashes at idle when the adapter/cable is plugged into the port.
I have not tried the 1.3D cable directly to a laptop yet to see if it has connection issues - that will come shortly - and my fingers are crossed.
When you first get it, the only sensor turned on is the battery or tps (I forgot which.) Go into the settings and click on each thing you would like logged. You'll find out shortly that if it cannot log a certain value, it will show runtime errors on the screen nonstop. The "stock" gauge layout it ships with is nice, but nearly half the information does not work. Speed, Gas consumption, Air temp & Coolant temp do not display. The excel formatted logs it creates show coolant temp, not the other three. Unsure if this is fixable, or if the hybrid ecu cannot provide this information?
As of today, it is logging Date, Time, TPS, RPM, Voltage, Coolant temp, Timing Advance & Knock when the cabling is working. This is definitely a work in progress. I'll update as I make discoveries.
