Well, long story short, when moving a friend into my house, his tv flew out of the back of my truck. Surprisingly it still worked and only has 3 dead vertical LCD lines. The bezel was scratched to shit, but it works great for sliding down the highway at 60. But he didn't want it after that and I said I would take it and do something with it.

So I am going to sink the back light portion into a table and put some etched glass over the top of it.

The only thing is, I know jack diddly shit about electricity. (Which I will get to shortly)

So, here I am so far.

Starting dismantling the tv to it's core.

Here is the back light area with the top cover off.

Here it is in it's current state. Nice, clean, and bare.

Now here is my issue,

I don't know what I can use to supply it with the power it needs as listed on the board.

(0.75 amp and 76 volt)

If anyone reading this has an idea or knows of a power supply I can buy to make this work let me know. I am going to spend a lot of time searching for something adequate.

Been talking to a chain of people. From Philips to their part manufacturer. I think I am getting closer to finding out exactly what I need.

Well the manufacturer told me it needs a 24v power supply. SO, I am going to take the one on the right home and try wiring it up. Worst case is I burn up this power supply.

Going to pick myself up a 7805 tomorrow after work. I will run that inline with the 24v supply and connect it to the on/off cable on the board.

Then, hook it all together and see if my voodoo magic actually works.

Mark@Encompass got back to me today and gave me the pinout diagram of the board that originally connects to backlights cables in the pictures above (high lighted)

Now time to try and decipher this

So, sad news......

I started doing this

Got to this point (testing if it works before I solder)

And well, it burnt up.....

HA JK, IT WORKS!

Now time to go solder it up and then silicon it up.

Got it all soldered up and heat shrunk.

Testing it before we silicon the 7805

And it all still works. So now I just need to start designing the table and throw a switch in line of that power supply.

So far so good!

I'm envisioning something like doctors use to view Xrays.

Similar, but I am putting my own twist on it will build a nice wooden table to sink it into and lay glass over the top with something etched into it. Which should look nice since light will pass differently through the etching compared to the non-etched glass around it.

And if all else fails, I will have a table for my bedroom ha
