We currently have a 99 VR4 (Hers) and a 99 C5 Vette (Mine), both lightly modded. I can't seem to make up my mind, so the question is, with out bias:

Do I keep the 99 Vette and get a 99 VR4 or do I sell/trade the C5 Vette and get a C6 Vette?

Price wise, the cost will be about the same...

This could be because my 3S is a terrible machine, but I think my corvette is a better 'fun' car. 3000gt makes more sense if it's doing more daily driver duties simply because it has more room.

So, my answer depends on what you're doing with the car.

Sell C5 and get a C6

No reason to own two 99 VR4's IMO. Also I know you will let me drive the C6 lol

Man, that's a tough call.

Which car do you enjoy more? Is the C6 really that much more fun than the C5? And are you as active within the Corvette community as you are here?

Personally, since I do more 3S-related activities, I would claim a 99 VR4 for myself (even if my other half had one as well). That way we both could roll up to gatherings together, and modify them/style them however we want without conflict.

Plus, having the C5 + 99 VR4 would allow you to drive one while the other is down. Always nice to have options. :)

Personally, having matching cars with your SO is cool. You're obviously not happy with the corvette so why not trade it for a car that you know you will be happy with.

*Sales ploy* I know someone with a very nice white on black leather 99 VR4 for sale. Mild mods too. (19Ts, 550s...)

I can put you in contact with him. It's the 99 I posted on Facebook a few weeks ago.

Actually I might be more with Shawn now because I misread the poll. I thought you were selling the C5 no matter what. I might go with the 99VR4 or maybe a 94-95VR4 and free up some cash to fix it up a bit.

The C6 is on par with the C5Z IMO. If you don't have a Z, go ahead and dump it for a C6. That being said, I'm not a fan of the C6 headlights. C6Z is pretty much in a class of it's own if you can swing it. 99 VR4 just doesn't impress me the way it used to, now that there are so many fakes running around. Really you're gaining nothing compared to an ultra clean earlier model.

I disagree. While one could argue that the z16 chassis is inferior to the z15 due to several short cuts taken by mitsu to save $$ (less underbody coating, thinner metal body panels, fewer color and chassy options) a true 99 is worth every dollar because:

A: it is actually holding its value
B: flash ecu (which by itself runs the motor smoother/ better)
C: better climate control
D: better (smarter) ABS and SRS ECUs
E: true Black and Tan interior color vs the bland grey and beige

(Yes I know the 98s are the same as 99 with different body panels and no under hood light)

real question is how much money are those worth to you....if they are worth the extra coin a 99 brings, then I'm all for it.

Have any info regarding the ABS?

I'm not a Vette fan at all, but I don't see the point in having two of the same cars unless the wife doesn't allow you to drive her 99 VR4. I could see having two of the same cars if one was modified and the other was stock. True 99s and spyders seem to be the only VR4s that hold their value...Somewhat.

16bit ecu vs the old style ecu (whatever processor that one uses)

That's for the ideas. Having a spare / 3rd car would be a plus. I love driving the Vette, I get pleanty of props on the car, it's low mileage. For those who don't know / remember, I had a black 99 and made the mistake of getting rid of it. Now I mis having one. Also, Linda's pearl white 99 is hers, but she wants to mod it in a different direction than I would. So, it would be nice to have another black 99 VR4. Thanx for the honest opinions.

And no, I'm never on the Vette forums, I am friends with some local Vette folks as well as 3S Vette owners.

Personally I'd rather get a Honda NSX than a Corvette.

What's not to like. All aluminium monocoque chassis and suspension, titanium connecting rods, forged pistons. Mid engine. Only downside is that it's not awd imo.

^ They are nice, rare, most lack HP. I'd rather stick to a car I know well. I've had VR4's since 91 and my Vette for 5 yrs. Just makes since. Don't get me wrong, If I had a ton of $$$, I'd be looking a ZR1, and others in that price range, but like 98% of the folks on here, money is limited... Nice choice though Ange

Keep the Vette, get a 99 to add to the stable.
