so when i drive my car, i have recently been getting a CEL at low loads and low rpm's. its really strange. it will come on, and then go back off almost like knock, except i dont see any way it could be knocking at that low of a load.

for instance, last night i took the car out of 6th because there was a stop light, with clutch in i free revved it to rev match 3rd... and there it was. literally a free rev caused it to come on, then it went back off. yesterday as well i took off from a light like a normal car and shifted into second. i did NOT give it much throttle at all and the light came on for like 2 full seconds. that scared me so i let off the throttle and it went off. didnt come back on with throttle, and i couldnt make it repeat itself. its very intermittent.

any ideas WTF this could be? the best guess i can come up with is a misfire CEL or something, but i thought those stayed on when that happens? really confused about this one...

I've had random high knock counts once or twice. Just rolling up to a light changing gears and it came on for a second.

Only way you can know is to be logging or setup the tactrix internal logger to be logging all the time.

The misfire cel will stay on.

It must be some kind of error either in the code or from the knock sensor. I need to talk to you and figure out how you have a log going all the time

mine works pretty well but I dont have the 2-byte load or airflow in it at the moment (you will have to use Forests method for that). but it would get you started quickly. its posted in this thread

It's knock (no idea if it's "real" knock but it's a reading from the knock sensor). I see it all the time in my SL. I was thinking about adding a minimum TPS or Load value for the knock CEL feature to keep it from blinking all the time during light accell.

If it was a real CEL, the ECU would store the code.

ok, thats what i figured too. strange how it will "knock" with literally no load on the engine (well, there IS load, however the minimum possible). i wonder if its a bad thing, like some kind of sign of bad engine wear or something? i hope not.
