Need to make some room for a new member of the family. Hopefully Because Racecar and Red Jet like her... She needs a name, Hrmmm.

She'll be down there next to my two girls in the SIG when she's all done!

I'm going back with the exact same rotating assembly that's currently on the Red Jet. It has proven to be an excellent setup. I have 90,000 miles on that build and the bearings still look brand new. It also doesn't even have a harmonic balancer. It has a billet Unorthodox crank pulley. I'm so pretty stoked to test out these new turbochargersand own my first cam car too!

I meant to ask, why 9:1? Seems like some people had more trouble with 9:1 than it was worth.

J. Fast
05-09-2013, 12:11 PM
It has a half point more compression then the red jet engine. Iwanted to go with higher compression because I'm going to be running a cam and ethanol. The boost multiplier on it is very high. I should be able to make the same power as the red jet with 4psi less boost. If IPP.net offered a 10.5:1 high compression setup I would have selected it in a heartbeat, but they don't :(

. What are some standing issues you've seen or read about, Paul?

There's no issues with 9:1. The off the shelf Ross pistons for 3/S are 9:1.

Those Tioga hv oil pumps are snake oil, though. Tested those many years ago. They don't move any more volume than stock.

Do you have a link to information on piston selections and the pin placement of said pistons? Stealth 316 has a piston guide but it does not have the pin placement and the compression change based on piston type.

I know doctorstupid and DJ tested a high volume oil pump a while back and determined the flow was equivalent to stock. However, he did not test the pressure. My oil pressure is roughly 10 pounds higher then it was with the stock oil pump. I know I can increase the oil pressure if I shim the orifice spring on the OEM oil pump assembly but I don't want to risk damaging it seeing how they're so expensive. I have the exact same Tioga oil pump in the 725whp red jet. It has worked great and so I'm going with what I know.

I believe tuning was one of the things but with an AEM it might not be as big of a deal. It's more head lift prone and I think you sort of hit a wall on how much boost you can safely run. I know there are pros but it seems the cons outweigh them. I'm not sure on these things but 2 people that come to mind that know more about it are DuTTch and Jgroove. I loved my 10:1 TT (very fun) but 8-9PSI was about the max I could run on pump gas.

i see now that you said you were going to put a delta 272 in it. sorry for not reading.

are those regrinds i assume? are you going to check the degree of them lobe to lobe, and i assume you are going to degree the engine? i ask this because of reading some of your past posts on other threads, and im curious to see if you will do any kind of a mini- writeup or at least show some pics of the process?

Ah, doctorstupid... miss that guy.

Shimming the oil pump relief valve does not increase oil pressure across the board -- only the peak value -- which may or may not be beneficial at all

I don't have info like that. I used CP pistons in my old Stealth.

Oh I'm sure they work, it's a simple pump. I just don't buy into any of their other claims. See Adam's post.

It's looks to be an STS hotside . The compressor wheel spec's slightly bigger than my old EVO III'S. It's stuffed in an WRX compressor housing with a bolt on exhaust housing (TD-04).

I've got a 1g Steering wheel, air bag and radio controls for sale. Steering wheel is shot from sun damage, but airbag is still in good (non deployed) shape if you're interested.

What is STS? Also looks more like the Volvo 19T housing than the WRX one. I ask because previously when Tim was selling 19Ts they where still using the standard TD04 exhaust wheel which seems too small for that compressor wheel. I would expect that one to be a HL or similar?

Rolled her off the trailer and gave her a quick bath and degrease before she goes under the knife. This is a better look at what she looks like. One thing that's really sweet... The tires on her are 18" x 10.5w x 285's (really wide) and dont rub or project beyond the fenders. I've never seen that before. This wheel and tire package is pretty slick.

I started disassambly today. Removed the front end, sidemounts, manifolds, heads... and holy fuck this thing was really beat on! The sidemounts were filled with TONS of oil! The driver side had 1/2 quart in it and the passenger side had almost 1/3. The entire bottom half of these sidemounts was damn near full. The turbos that were taken off of this must have been absolute dog shit because it looks like someone accidentally poured oil in the intercoolers, crazy!

I literally took this off and sat it on this trashcan lid. This is all the oil that poured out of it!

http://i788.photobucket.com/albums/yy163/JFastMotorsports/20130522_175527_zpsc1324b10.jpg

Both manifolds were cracked. I tossed te rear because it's cast and opted to repair the front....

Before...

http://i788.photobucket.com/albums/yy163/JFastMotorsports/20130522_153202_zpsc3187487.jpg

After...

http://i788.photobucket.com/albums/yy163/JFastMotorsports/20130522_153257_zpse3ffe67c.jpg

I mounted the turbos and discovered I had to modify the front motor mount to get them to go. I also had to remove the freeze plugs at the water circ galleys on the turbos and drop them down so I could plumb the water lines in properly...

Ditto, Im running 9.5/30, and dont see any way to squeeze another inch of rim under the fronts...

...not saying impossible, just curious on the numbers to accomodate

its not! That must be a typo! Unless I'm mistaken/misunderstanding,(if so please correct me) either he has a lot of camber or a narrow tire or a combo of this in the front.

I run a 18x9 with a plus 45 offset and a stock tire size (245/40R18) And I have a little bit of poke in the front tested by coopkill with his plum-bob. I have less than the width of a #2 pencil to the factory strut and spring with factor suggested alignment specs.

This is sandstone... Pics from my Gene's Surmount fro sale thread... Front tires don't stick out at all :)

My car is a long way from stock but they are bolt on. Another member in colorado has two sets also. J. Elkins. Jason mounted one of his sets on a 1st gen VR4 DR16T car. Had both oem and 2" cx racing intercooler pipes and a Dejon blow thru running on an AEM EMS. They bolted right on and retained stock everything even front active aero.

Here's a pic of the same set mounted on J's car. It's a 1st gen with the shrouds, active aero, stock oil cooler, and etc. Mine are identical, new, in box, ready to be shipped, and have never been installed.
