Hey guys, today was a blast, cant wait for the next event. I ran in the novice class of SCCNH and placed 3rd out of 5 cars in that class. Got a nice little dash plate for it. My car is pretty much stock sitting on Tein S techs with no alignment since dropping it. My tread wear is 320 and being my first time I was about mid pack of the total 60 cars. The fastest car was 30 seconds while I was 34.2 so I have plenty to work on. Things I noticed...

My Suspension is a non issue, hardly any roll.

Plenty of power, never really went WOT

Brakes are fine, though I didnt use them as much as I should.

When really pushing it, it just slid, major under steer, rear never tried to come out. My last run, the one after this vid I just slid through the entire course like a mad man lol.

Nice! Welcome to the addiction. Learn some trail braking technique to battle the under steering.

Tickles me to see the car way in teh back ground and the forced perspective makes it look like just a little RC car. But I'm easily amused as such right now.

Not bad though.

It was a blast, cant wait to go again.

Did you hear my daughter at the end "Mommy he got a 34 not a 37" LOL. She kept pushing me, saying "Daddy that car is way faster than that, you can do better"

Now you have to figure out a way to make it to the NG so you can take part in the 3/S only auto-cross.

Yeah, I wish I could. Its still a possibility but not likely. Would really like to race with other 3S's for a good comparison though.

Time for spare wheels for autox tires...

Yeah, I will do that when I have mastered my driving and the car cant possibly do better without better stuff. A great driver probably could have gotten another couple seconds out of it.

Did you ever figure out what class you were supposed to be in? :p

No, I just went with stock performance I think, or touring.

Our car's don't typically make good auto-cross cars compared to smaller and more nimble cars like a Miata, S2000, etc so having a 3/S only competition is very nice.

compared to ANYTHING, not just smaller more nimble cars haha.

People still do this?

Id like to see you run the z2s in 40 degree weather.

I run my NT05s in 40* weather and used to run Star spec Z1s in 40* weather :lo5l:

I hear that ALL the time, and its true to some extent. But for my first time ever and falling somewhere near mid pack I didnt feel real in-superior to the other cars. Either way, racing against other 3S's would be awesome.

That was nice, Corey - double smoove for a first effort. :)

Did you have the trouble you anticipated finding your way around the course?

CoreyB

Yes Kevin, navigating is the hardest part. Looks smooth on camera but in the car it's crazy, mind is racing to look at the next few cones.

Would be better than almost anything else....

Summer tires in the cold is a myth. I would rather be on summer tires in any weather besides snow over any all season.

You've driven Z1's in 15 degree temps? Not exactly what I'd call fun, no grip at all and they can tear if you abuse them.

I didn't think Z1s had that great of grip even when warm...

They didn't have much feedback, but they had plenty of grip when warm for me.
