Available "Pins"

Been reading an noticed with Chrome and the 98/99 full cloned ECUs that there are empty pins for some nifty things. But I have not been able to find a master list of all the "pins" available.


I know that "Pin 92" for MAP sensor and "Pin 91" for WBO2 sensor. Even some rumblings of "Pin 48" for options as well as the "Pin" for the Active Exhaust System.

So I ask can we get a list of what available "Pin" there are and what they could be used for?

Pin 93 (not pin 91) is the fuel tank pressure differential sensor which is only available on the 98/99 cars. I've reprogrammed this pin as a wideband input.

Pin 48 is the FPR solenoid which everyone deletes anyway. So I wrote the code to give the user the ability to control it.

Pin 35 is the vent solenoid which again is a system only available on the 98/99 cars. Since its open, why not use it for something?

Pin 67 is the park/neutral switch. Its normally grounded on a MTX car. Since our cars never came with an ATX (in the states anyway) I've taken advantage of it for the clutch mods.

Pin 6 is something Adam discovered in the manual. Turns out even though the active exhaust was dropped in 95, they never took out the hardware and software to operate it.

There are more inputs and output pins available which I'll be using for future chrome mods.

Two inputs and one switchable output. There's also the secondary o2s which can be used as 2 more inputs and their heaters can be used as two more switchable outputs.

There's all kinds if inputs and outputs. Just a matter of taking advantage of the ones we don't "need".

Greg I am trying to determine how many wires that that I need to add to blackstealth's conversation harness. Better to hack that vs. The factory wiring. That is the sole reason I didn't go with his plug n play option.

Adam constructed the PnP ECU with all these extras in mind. Without him, I wouldn't know about any of them.

The PnP adaptor has slots for all of these extras. The hold up for actually using these pins is actually just me now.

There isn't any need anymore to hack wires. Pins can easily be swapped/installed. I posted a video about how to do that in the manual.

Chrome works perfectly with an ATX. Obviously you just wouldn't enable the clutch chrome mods with an ATX installed.

greg, i think i am seeing the confusione between you and steve... correct me if im wrong

steve, the listed pins that are unpopulated are because they dont do anything on the ecu. im sure that the big connectors our cars have on them that connect into the ecu are more or less "universal" connectors, and are used in other vehicles (the montero, diamante, etc). each car has its own ecu, some pins overlap, but there are some pins that will not be populated on our car, and some that wont be popluated on their cars. an example i can think of off the top of my head is 4wd in a montero vs. a 3000gt sl. im sure that takes a pin or two, and obviously the 3000gt doesnt need the ecu to control 4wd.

and like greg said, the plug n play has the 'chrome' pins ready to go. i asked the same question to adam before i sent him my ecu.

This is going to blow your mind but there are 2 pins on the ECU for the montero that have a line going to the ADC chip meaning we can use them for inputs. I'll get into more detail on these after I get the Chrome 2.1 stuff out. The plan is to use them for the GM ethanol sensor for a true flex fuel version of chrome.

That is exciting, but I hope my ecu being a SL originally doesn't prevent me from using the flex fuel option.
