i know the limit can be adjusted, but can it fix the discrepancy of 10mph +- that it is off?

i take it you drive a first gen.

to answer your question directly; no. the speedometer is driven directly from the speed sensor, not from the Engine ECU.


there was a mitsubishi TSB that corrected this issue, however. There is a new speedo gear you can order for just a few bucks.

I installed it in my 93 and now my speedo is dead-on accurate. (gps confirmed)

i am surprised not everyone knows about this TSB

I have never heard about the TSB, where can we get the correct gear?

I had heard there was 2 gears, just assumed one for a six spd, and one for 5. I had issues with a bad harness plug on ky speedo and all 3 used sensors with the gear all read high for the short time they worked. I would get one if you remember the source.

My nearest Mitsu dealer said that it was like 30 bucks for the sensor. It's not a big enough difference for me to pay for that. I just learned the true speed based on gear and rpm.
