for the majority of non DSLR users here, what point and shoot do you guys use?
I currently use a Canon SD870IS but have been debating on getting a better point and shoot. I have my eyes set on this fun little thing to take where a DSLR is not allowed:

Good thread. I do want to get a better DSLR eventually, but before then I'd like to get a decent P&S. Going to WVU games or the occasional Pirate game is cool, but lugging the DSLR in is more of a pain than its worth

I know. I couldnt bring my DSLR to the NHL Draft because it was "too big". fortunately a few of my friends were there and had p/s cameras.
that new Canon has a 35x optical zoom. everything else being equal, its a good way to "reach out" and capture subjects far far away in conventional sporting events and the like where I dont need to shoot with the DSLR.

Lol, Canon Powershot all the way. They are tiny, sturdy construction, and take decent pics.

Wow! that new Canon would rock for things like Concerts where they do not allow DSLR's
Hell its got better specs that some SLR's.

yeah. its almost as if it is now the new "Rebel" series.
The new 60D is being thought by many of us in the Canon camp as the next "Super Rebel" or would eventually be the rebel replacement/upgrade path. for a SLR-ish point and shoot to evolve to what the SX30IS is seems to add more weight to that notion.
I'm surprised the SX30 is out already. I have an SX110 and it takes pictures that blow my mind and it's tough. It's now my go-to camera for cop work. If they have an SX130, I might have to look into it.
