Titled it wrong. Manual vs Electric boost gauge. Which is better for a street car? I've heard manual.

Pros and cons.

Definately automatic, the algorithm to convert manual can be a connundrum, in and of itself....

Um, it's still wrong. I think you're asking if you should go with a manual boost controller or an electronic one...The gauge is going to be electronic either way, unless you really want to kick it old school & plumb a vacuum line into the cabin & hook it up to a mechanical gauge (like what some people do with oil pressure gauges in older domestics).

Personally, just keep it mainstream & go with either an electronic boost controller or a manual one & get a better aftermarket electronic boost gauge, dude.

As for the other two responses...:suspect: & LOL

I like my blitz EBC a LOT. It also doubles as my gauge, has a lot more function than a manual however it is about 10x as expensive...

If you can afford it, go electric boost gauge. I ran a mechanical one for a while because I didn't have the cash to drop on an electric and was getting some strange boost behavior. Sold it and upgraded to an electric now though. Plumbing vacuum lines into the cabin isn't very difficult though if you want to go mechanical.

Agree with this. Mine been reliable over the years. Been a dd lately around 1bar max. I will try to see if it will double as a map input for Maftpro.

Lol about real numbers :p

There is a member here that is selling an Electronic boost controller with an LCD screen that can do so much more!! you really need to read on on this thing:

His website (http://lcdbc.xp3.biz/)
The thread here about it (http://www.3sgto.org/3000gt-stealth-gto-related-topics/497-my-lcd-screen-project-boost-wbo2-knock-etc.html)

it's a good option, steve. i just don't like having to settle for monochrome LCD. and if i'm going to the trouble of hacking up my dash cluster, i'd rather install a flat-panel display and eliminate all the analog gauges too.

1. Thank you, Thadd.
2. You don't have to put it in your dash.

I know you want a Dodge Dart like interactive display, but that is moot to the OP's thread
