am i correct in thinking that you can turn off the o2 sensor feedback within the flashable ecu?

besides the ecu doing some of the work for you, is there another reason that you DO want the o2 sensor feedback?

i was just thinking that if you tune it without feedback from the o2 sensors, wouldnt it be plenty consistent? just thinking out loud really.

You're talking about disabling closed loop feed back? Yes you can disable it from periphery 0. Guys have done this before with mixed results.

The issue is general mathematical chaos from engine wear, injector performance, combustion, sensor error... All kinds of "X factors" that are in the mix. Closed loop helps keep the motor running smoothly with all those uncertainties factored in.

Without closed loop, your tune has to be 100% perfect otherwise your motor won't run as well as you'd like. The advantage of the closed loop function is it enables you to drive your car with the poor tune while it fixes all the errors for you with the fuel trims. Sadly most people don't even bother fine tuning the intake maps because of how well it works.

To answer your question, yes you can disable it and still have a consistant tune. ...but only as so long as your X factors stay consistent.

fair enough. i think i will just get new o2 sensors, and fix the maps to near perfection (im assuming that means 0 added or subtracted fuel). i am not comfortable enough yet with tuning to do it without the sensors. the thought had just popped into my head
