Its quiet in here again. Figured I'd get an updated list of everyone running a chrome ECU right now and also I'm very curious to see what you guys think of it. Even if its negative feedback I want to hear it!

4. Works perfect like stock, more fuel coming for e85 soon. (be careful running stock wastegate duty cycles with bigger turbos :) )

Still running V1, been happy with it, and that's the reason I haven't put V2 on it yet but that's coming soon.

8. Love it thus far. Betting ive put more miles on mine than most in the 1.5 or so years its been installed. Will have 4 TT's running on it by this summer. One of those will hopefully be a 500awhp build.
There are two downsides. Ive heard about switchable maps coming. This is a must for most of us who street and strip our cars. The other is; how do i turn on the taco periphery?

i switched to v2 almost immediately
i wont say these are complaints, but hopefully constructive criticism. you have met me before greg, so i hope you know this is coming from me desiring to be helpful...
- i think a lot of the description of things you can modify could be 'dumbed down' a lot more. especially for the people just getting into tuning
- idk if this is affecting other people, but the Hz scale ending at 1600 is no good for me. max that sucker almost immediately
- this isnt your fault, but i wish there was some more how-to's and first hand 3S experience to learn from. i like reading about specifics before i dive into things
i could nit-pick some more, but its just not worth it. it is single handedly the most valuable modification i have done to my car, and arguably the best modification that i have seen come available since i have been part of the 3S world. i hope that i can answer a lot of peoples questions in the future when i dive into my tuning and learn the hard way.
i will be sure to post questions when i have them, that way people that have the same questions can see responses easier/quicker

Just flashed v2 to my car last weekend but haven't had a chance to drive it much. Absolutely love how much better the driveability is now on evo 560cc injectors and evo maf when using v1.

I would like you to look into a patch to fix the 13.06 PPS or 319.7 grams of air/second limitation. I am setting the car up to avoid this but fixing it would be great as I would only need to worry about one tune instead of needing to pull airflow back with the MAFT and pulling injector size back with a flash. The ultimate goal is 600AWHP and to completely zero the translator and use the ecu only for tuning. Is it possible to defeat this limitation by flashing the engine displacement in half effectively doubling the limitation? My friend's tuner has a feature like this built into it for just that purpose. This would also open doors for guys with larger cubic inch builds as well. Everything else has been great so far though and please keep up the hard work. It is very much appreciated.

I already dumbed everything down as best I could. :p
The HZ scaling will be doubled in the next chrome release. The table as you see it is how Mitsubishi set it up.

I bought a new Sony and it arrived yesterday. Lasted all of 5 min when I got the blue screen of death. Laptop won't even let me boot into bios. Processor or chip set are faulty. 6-8 weeks to rebuild...

Ran a pre V1 then a V1 version on my car for over a year. Loved the extra torque I was able to tune to on a completely stock car with stock boost.
Went to V2 with the new 19T build, she fired up and idled like stock on the first turn.
I will have more feedback later once I get my car back on the road and have a chance to really tune with it. Life is crazy, car runs gret but I have some body panels and oil leaks to button up.

I have one in my Spyder, and it runs nicely. I have a fuel problem that I need to get ironed out (rear bank runs leaner than the front, by a lot - suspect the O2s are wired backwards or something goofy). Car is sleeping in the garage during the Wisconsin winter, however.
Love Chrome - stock starting right when the key is turned vs. the AEM crank, crank, crank, fire is great. Looking forward to some of the upcoming enhancements as well!

Car was setup by Greg the man himself, and I have to say the thing is butter smooth! I have a few issues to resolve, but the best improvement by far is fuel economy! Everyone knows that safc and evo560s don't play together perfectly but going from safc2 to flash was a great improvement. I still need to figure out why the 2 step is shooting out flames!?!?!?!? Big props to EVERYONE that made this possible. I <3 you guys!

It's shooting flames most likely because of the excessive amount of raw fuel being dumped into the exhaust. It's the nature of a 2 step.

But I absolutely love it. Put a couple thousand miles on it, and it just runs and drives like stock. We haven't really gotten into pushing the tuning, since there's still a smoking issue Hans wants to resolve first. But I am a HUUUUUGE fan so far. :)

Mine is setting next to me. It just came in the mail today. I should be installing it very soon and firing up after I figure out what went wrong with my car during the last spirited runs.

So far, I have had no time to really change anything but pre-set out of the box, the car is running good and starts immediately every time. I only get this hesitation when I just try to floor it off the line which I am not sure is a lean or rich condition since the wideband isn't connected yet. I have the pins to make this loggable but do not have the flash software and hardware so I cant do anything anyway. My son just turned 1 so I am busy and will probably just pay Greg to fine tune it better this spring once the wideband and alcohol injection goes in. Looks very promising so far, and much better then anything I ever had running in the AEM so far. Car runs the 680(650)cc injectors like stock and the boost just slams to 20psi when I put the pedal down. Its like a drug. I just need to kill the hesitation on quick throttle opening and then the stock ECS struts are going back in so I can use this thing again to commute in this summer LOL

Ran great at idle through mid-range. I had some fuel system problems that prevented me from fully testing the top end. I'll be starting the fuel system upgrade and installing the new engine shortly. This should be a fun year.

Love it since its been in, still some issues with rpm dropping very low when i let off the gas and occasional stall when this happens... Wish I had a reliable place here on NY that could tune it for me since my time is limited now T_T.

putting in my 720cc injectors today to tune on 91 pump with my 19Thl's. Probably going 1000c + when I switch to E85 this summer but these will be fun for now. Is there a ROM collection out there that people could use to check which settings were changed on other peoples builds? Would give some noob tuners like myself right now a good starting point or at least a ROM to look at and work backwards from. Aside from bad 02's now messing with idle the car ran great right when I started it up.
Chrome is awesome and cant wait for the next release. great job and keep up the good work.

Nope. Hopefully there never will be. You can't copy someone's tune onto your ECU and expect the same results.
Don't be scared to tune your car. Its honestly not difficult. :)

once you get the car to idle and have good trims the wot is near stock. pretty easy

Still at the very beginning of the process of using the Chromed Cloned ECU. Only gotten as far as installing it in the car and starting it up. It did start and run, which made me happy. Still have to remove the old piggyback system (MAFT Pro in SD, and a S-ITC), install the EVO 8 MAF and piping, and learn how to tune the ECU. Original stock ECU is gone, sold it to my friend to put in his '92 Stealth which had a bad ECU, and that car was sold off. So I have to get the Chromed ECU working now! Car is very modified with (new) cams, DR 650's, 550 injectors, etc. Need a piece of the exhaust system fabbed first, so I can actually use the WB02 readings.

Rocking 1250's and e85 like stock! It purs so smooth, and sounds so sweet......it also smells sweet, but that's corn doing corn thangs. Hoping with the transmission repairs/beefcaking I can get back out there this year and demo my new single setup and max the stock block quickly. Next year ID 2000's, forged 3.0 bottom end, and some diy headwork/custom cams to really put this ecu through the paces.

Just got my evoscan, ecuflash installed with the Chrome files and tactrix delivered last week. Waiting on WB02 to arrive and get installed. Extremely nervous about tackling this myself. Although I had a bricked ecu occur, I just got the replacement last night and had the car running. My ecu did get "donated to science" because when it was repaired, it would not accept a flash when adam was testing it. aside from that, and having a steep learning curve on the tuning, i really like it and expect great results soon.

Massive improvement over the piggybacks with out the pain in the ass of standalones. I also love features like the knock light, launch control, NLTS etc.

You're more than welcome to come over and check out what's needed (EVOscan,ECUflash,Tactrix cable) and how it works. I haven't reflashed yet, just did some logs and trying to get done with my 95 so I can put it up for sale. Greg has done an awesome job with tutorials on this stuff!!:Bow: :ThankYou:I just wish the Viper community was as open with information. The Viper has been down in FL for 2 months waiting on a tune after I did the heads/cam/blower upgrade :unsure:

Had a modified Montero ECU in my car now for almost three years! I've probably put more miles on one than anyone else at this point. I think I've put in the neighborhood of 24,000 miles on my flash setup so far. I'm also fairly certain I was the first 1G car to do the setup. And in that process, I calculated out the equations to get the actual timing due to the difference in latencies of the cam sensors. I also spent lots of hours Beta testing for Greg, and helping him test out new features. I recently converted to E85, and 150% satisfied with the flash setup. You cannot tell my car is not stock.

92 VR4 with a 93 engine and 13g. I shut off the 99 specifics, made the idle a bit higher and it runs really well as is. Once I get some eother things done (fuel inj), I'll "mess" with the tune. As it is, Chrome 2.1 works beautifully. Great, smooth idle, active exhaust is working, and the car starts and runs great.

92 stealth TT with modified Montero ecu, evo maf and still v1 chrome, other mods in sig. Switched from arc2 with absolutely no disappointment. The car pulls much harder compared to the arc2 setup(which made 360hp/380tq), and driveability is so much better without even touching the fuel maps yet. I plan to tune, dyno, and track the car once I get new coils, and fix these wretched rear pws lines.

I wish NA Rom had Pin 93 Wideband Scaling table tho.
I have that Buzzkill mod(no sound when door is open) done.. but it would be cool if we could use that noise for knock just like we have check engine light wen knock is present... that way i dont have to be checking while tuning aT WOT.
Speed sensor is not logging for some reason on my NA.. so wen I do luanch control it does not know that I am going above 5mph..wen i do WOT so it scared me lol. I had to turn it off for now..
Logging tactrix with SD card is the best!

Are you sure you have launch control turned on first?
then you have to be completely wide open throttle in order for the rev limit to bump at the lower rpm..
if you are partial throttle it will not hit the rev limiter... it needs to be wide open throttle
test this in neutral or park.. with the car not moving.

Are you sure you have launch control turned on first?
then you have to be completely wide open throttle in order for the rev limit to bump at the lower rpm..
if you are partial throttle it will not hit the rev limiter... it needs to be wide open throttle

The TPS limit is set to 80%.
Stationary Limit Switch Speed is at 6MPH
So according to these values Launch Control would only be activated If my TPS > 80% and Speed < 6MPH.

The only reason why I can continue going up on the RPM's is because I left of the throttle a little meaning TPS < 80%.

I'm running cloned ecu with v2 I've played around with it got my car running smooth with maft in blow thru, my 92 vr4 has never ran better ;)

I don't know if you ever figured this out but if I would have known your car is a 95 FWD I would have posted. You don't have a speed sensor in your car. Your speedo is cable driven. The ECU doesn't know your speed and that input just sits at 0mph all the time. This is why LC doesn't work for you.

Because the clutch input is coded for NLTS. You can essentially use this as your launch control rev limiter too.

If your car has a speed sensor (and not a cable driven speedometer), yes you can run that to the speed sensor input on the ECU and all should be good. The only thing that you have to check is that the spped sensor is the same between the different versions.
I would think that even if the pulse amount is different, this should not matter as you only need to see greater than 5 mph to turn off launch control rev limit . . . as long as the difference in real speed and percieved speed by the ECU is not too great (like more than 5 or 10 mph) you should be ok.

I can't remember if you still need launch control enabled with NLTS but if you do, just set the switch speed to 0mph so that it'll not cause the same issue you're currently having.

A long time ago I use to run a map-ecu for the speed density and fine tuning the injectors. I never really liked it because I always had an issue with this or that and to be honest tuning with it scared the hell out of me. But the reason I bring it up is the newest one let you switch between two complete sets of tables on the fly via a mountable switch. Personally I would like to set my car up for e85, but I also travel and can't always count on finding a station so it would be nice to be able to switch. Plus for a lot of guys it would be nice to have two set ups, a daily driver and a more aggressive table for those fun times. I know y'all got the skills, but didnt know if y'all had the time to think about it

No it'll still be there but it'll be a bit tricky. If you just want AE you'll have to make sure both your Tour and Sport maps match.
In the case of alternate fuels AE would only work for which ever tune is designated in the Tour mode.

Cool, but I currently do not have the system. I have a design that would of used an E-cutout and 2 time pulse relays (1 open, 1 close) and the existing AES would of been the trigger. However with the gains to be had if any with the active exhaust be it factory or an E-cutout, I rather have the flex fuel option.
Unless a flex fuel switch could be added.

California 94 Vr4 stock motor, manual boost controller 14psi, new IAC.
Struggling to get the Chromed ECU to work. Runs on 3 at anything less than WOT when warm. If i leave it to idle for 5 min all six come on line until I take it past 3500RPM than its back to 3 unless WOT. Tried contacting cromedecu.org but no response yet.

I have one also, was not able to log, took a long to figure they mistakenly inverted 2 wires into the tactrix cable, once it was found and fixed, it work well (stock injectors), will have the 660cc back in soon.

Did you have to get a new cable from tactrix or were you able to fix it yourself. If so, how?

My friend saw it and fixed it.
When you are in Canada, it's such a hassle to send something and get it back, it's the 'getting back' part that is hard, since the custom want to charge you again like if you just bought it. Much easier and faster to do it here.

My OEM ECU was on it's way out (93 VR-4). This has been the best modification to the car to date. The Chrome ECU is the best! That is all. Thanks for the great support and product!

I'm able to switch between E85 and pump gas with the laptop that I keep in the car in seconds. Now all I need to play with is the chrome mods (NLTS and anti-lag are the ones I'm most excited about, have had them on a previous car).

I'm able to switch between E85 and pump gas with the laptop that I keep in the car in seconds. Now all I need to play with is the chrome mods (NLTS and anti-lag are the ones I'm most excited about, have had them on a previous car).
You should be excited, those are the next best features besides injector scaling and timing control.

Swapped to Evo MAF and back to stock as well as playing around with Chrome mods. I have the 2 step set up very conservatively as I am to the point of really needing it but like the sound every now and then.
Got a MAFT Pro and speed density sensors in the mail today, any pro tips?
I tried this setup.
It was ok but i would get bad gas milage 80% of what I could do on a MAF.
Didn't noticed any other benefits.

Hmm, missed this list. My Jesters ECU/Blackstealth harness combo works great in my VR-4.
I haven't done anything (due to time) other than turn off the peripherals for the O2s so that I don't get a CEL for cat deletes. I'd like to mess around a little more with some bigger injectors and see what the 9bs feel like before going billet 19t.

I am not personally running it as I prefer AEM and EMU, but so far, I have set up and/or tuned eight (8) 3/S with many more pending. Half of these were 1999's heh, and the rest were about the same between the "Clone" and "Jester" units. I have managed to tune anywhere from 300AWHP up to 678AWHP VD SAE with pump, race, methanol, and ethanol goodness.
Needless to say, those who use/have it tend to be satisfied for all of the reasons already probably mentioned, and the results are out there for all levels. Bells and whistles cost comparison is one factor that makes it a personal preference of the end-user, so I have seen/helped others pursue other proven options as well. Another is lack of live-tuning and SD, but again, that is just preference.
FWIW, I usually disable NB FB and yield better results; it is also cleaner for those that care for aesthetics.
