Good solid car to start with. Not to many like that around. Do her good.

i will. my dads had it 30 years. were gonna do it back mostly stock.
Very nice; looks to be in super shape, body-wise!
I'm an old Mustang/Cougar guy from way back.
FYI, I have a few SBF parts I won't be using - a Crane hydraulic "3/4" cam/lifters (great for a stick-car of your car's weight), original Cobra valve covers, and a Cobra intake from a '67 Shelby.
Add a bit of flavor to your build! :)

My last Cougar was a '69 XR7 with a 351W, C4, and leather.
I loved that car...wanted to swap in a top-loader, but I'd done a few of those change-overs and I didn't like doing 'em, so the car never got beyond being a really nice cruiser. :)

Actually getting old school craigers.
Cragars don't suck either...:)
Y'know, that paint looks good enough to rehab, Snook.
Give it a go and take some pics?

She's got some rusted though spots man. Already tried rehabing. Didn't work. But I actually think were gonna put the original cougar factory stamped rims on her. There better than the stock hub covers.

great project, if you plan on uping the power you might want to check with mikes2nd as he just got a new roush mustang gt500 rear end capably of 650 hp for 1100 shipped. dont know how much it would take to use it but it is a rear drive car also..better than a currie for 2500... its a 3.73 ratio

I'm not gonna do much for power. Its mostly gonna be a cruser. She sounds nasty, but that's where it stops.

I've painted others before, and know what I'm going with. Its pricy, but this car is worth every cent of it.

Oh, it would sound MUCH nastier with a Crane cam, SSH300NC...it's a hydraulic, makes fantastic mid-range, and sounds like mechanical madness - doesn't destroy vacuum, either - .500 lift, 313 duration.
I would almost give it away...
