I know this has probably been asked a grip of times but hoe do you know if the car has a 18 spline or 25? Its a 92 stealth tt. Produced in march of 92. Thanks guys

if it's a 92 and a stock transmission, it's 18 spline. 25's weren't introduced until june or so of 92 (production month).

I disagree.... ASA shows the break as being the second week of November 91.

Count the splines next time you have the transfercase off. Lol. If it's stock it's probably an 18 spline. Time for an upgraded OS and also an upgraded transfercase. Let me know if you need a SS one. :)

I think yours is a 25 spline... I was surprised to find out my 92 was a 25 spline. I think it was a march build as well but I will double check my build date next time I am in the garage.

i was under the impression that the 25 spline happened simultaneous with the 4-bolt, etc. is this not the case?

That isn't the case.

The only definitive answer you are going to get, just by looking at a t-case mounted to a trans, is if it is a big bearing or small bearing housing. But, there were small and large bearing 18 splines. So, if you see that it's a big bearing, it could be either one.

With these cars being this old, it's rare to find one with its original transmission still.

True, the only way to know fore sure is to pull the transfer case and count the splines.

Wish I had 1500 to drop on a t case . Lol

Ok so just count the splines . Isnt the 25 stronger than the 18? Also can you just swap out another (for the stronger one of course ) if you get the matching trans ?

5 speeds are interchangeable. So, you can slap in a 25 spline trans and t-case without having to change anything else. 25 is stronger than 18. To save money, you could just get a 300m 18 spline shaft, if that is what you have.

I've had a few different offers and dropped the price a few hundred. I got one guy that wants to make payment but looks like he's interested in getting in on a T3 manifold group buy. I'm waiting until tax refunds to see it sell more than likely.

The 25 spline was a mid 92 model year change. The 4 bolt was never available in 92, only in 93+ model years.
