Hello internet friends,

This is me... I source, design, and build my own racecar parts.

These are my carbon fiber doors for "Because Racecars"

Combined weight is 25.4lbs for both doors.

They're OEM fittment. Even the lower door cards.

Information regarding these doors will only be available at 3sgto.org.

There's a gauging interest thread in the Classifieds Section for registered users of this site.

Possibly, one more run and then they're done?

We'll be posting up installation information and fittment for these doors shortly!

Let's just say you aren't lifting 2 door with one hand each without hurting something LOL

Less than 13lbs per door is outrageous. I guess the downside is less energy absorption. Ideal when u r literally racing & have cage.

You know... Those look pretty good. You should consider making parts for more high end cars, the amount of vendors out there is slim, and they charge an arm and a leg for even the tiniest little pieces. Check out MA Carbon and see what their prices are on some stuff, it's insane.

What do the oem parts weigh?

I have a set of OEM doors with panels, glass, speakers and all OEM components. I've a second set that's "because racecar". Only thing on them is the inner and outer skin, hinges, latch/strike, handles/locks, and intrusion claws. The door bars, glass, controls, wiring, and etc have been removed entirely. I'll weigh both styles tomorrow when I drop these off at the shop.

I want to say the OEM doors weigh damn near 100lbs ea.? Stripped doors might weigh 50lbs ea.? I'll report back with the results.

They're pretty sweet!
I'll get mine swapped out after Christmas.

I laugh because these are the "hard to get" parts for our cars and Jer was driving around with 3 sets in the back of his truck. Should've given you a Santa hat!

How do you think these would hold up with possible daily use? Or weekend warrior use? Like being opened and closed over and over again?

Also, how much does the glass weigh for the doors?

I just wanted to say bravo for making these. These look like they are of amazing quality. I am very impressed. Can't wait to see what your car is capable of J Fast. You are always posting threads that make me want to go out and drive my 3000 around.

I got one done yesterday. This is not a quick job to say the least. I transferred over the handle, lock, inside handle both window guides, the weather stripping, the corner piece, the window motor and rail as well as the lower outer card. Total time was about 5 hours to set it all perfectly. The door opens and closes just like a stock door but considerably lighter. There's obviously movement in the door due it's flexibility but only with the window up and door open. Door closed and it's rock solid when the window is up or down. The only holes that come ready to go are the hinge holes but these are perfect, bolted right on. The other 64 holes you have to drill yourself. Really cool! I'll tackle the driver door in a few days. Should go much faster since now I know what I'm doing.

Yo E, can you post more pictures of your window install and where you drilled? Obviously you drilled the oem tags, but can you identify where you needed different fasteners other than the OEM ones and how many? Can you identify any additional areas on the doors you might suggest reinforcing? Do you have any added suggestions for future installers going with windows?

Got the drivers done yesterday. Man, it's a bit of work to say the least. It's not hard, just so time consuming drilling all the holes for the rubber, door cap and everything else. I honestly used the stock location on everything. The only thing I did differently was to swap a couple of bolts for longer ones and used washers to get the bracket into its proper location. A bit of fiddeling to make it all work but it's not hard, just takes a while. I also pulled the tint from the windows. I think it looks nice without it. Anyway, mine are done and ready to go. Here's a couple of finished pics.

Yo E, just wanted to make sure the door and seam alignment was good for the drivers side? If you're happy, then I'm happy!

I had to do some minor edge sanding but it's not the fault of the doors. Remember how my driver door would rub against the carbon fender when I opened it? I figured it was a good time to sand down the fender edge so it wasn't so close, it's just how they did the fenders, a little long on the door side. Nothing a file couldn't fix in 10 minutes.

Hey Erron the car looks awesome with all the cf!
What you curb weight now ?

Erron Spalsbury

I'm hoping to get it down at 3100 by summer.

I also forgot to mention something about the doors or rather the part that holds the door open. You will need to modify it by grinding it down a bit. If you can move the plunger by hand in a vice you've got it down where it needs to be. The doors are so light they no longer need that amount of hold open/closed.

I was confused until I remembered you have that 70lb hunk of turbo, ect. Right now I'm at 3050 + cage with tons of weight left to drop.
