Since I haven't had the money to really spend up on some nice tyres, I usually spend around the $150 to $200 per tyre. That gets me some 245 x 45 x 18's which I use for daily driving and I get alot of miles out of them. If I ever get to the track, I'll definetly spend up a bit more for the good stuff. I know a mate in Melbourne spent around $1000 per tyre. I'm curious what you kids spend on your daily's, drag radials or circuit tyres.

245/45/18 scotty? On the VR-4?

I have been creepin up in size over the years. At first I ran 245/40/18, then picked up some 265/35/18s, now with 9.5" wide rims I'm running 275/35/18s on the back ... each set goes for over $200/tire. I've ran BFG g-force T/A, Azenis RT-615, Nitto NT555s, and RE01-Rs.

I think I spent $152 each on my Star Specs. Discount Tire had them for cheaper $136, IIRC, but they didn't have any in stock. $150 per tire is easily a budget tire, IMO.

I've never spent more than $200 per tire. Right now I have Falken Azeni 615s on the Stealth. They ran me $170 per tire for 255/40 17. I'm thinking of moving to 18s and I'm looking at the Nitto NT05 for $202 for a 275/35 18.

Scotty I think there are a few things you should not skimp on. Tyres and Brakes. These things help you stop LOL. I bought the best wet weather tyres I could after reading lots of reviews. Very good in the dry and excellent/top of the review in the wet. Came second over all in a bunch of performance tyres. Top of the class was the Goodyear A1 Asymetric which IIRC were about $600 each. Got my Falkens for $310 each. Do your own research etc as everyone on here are biased plus differnt range in the states compared to Oz.

I've resigned myself to the fact that I won't be seeing a bill for less than $1000 for the tires alone for the 3/S, but then again, I'm a track nut and good tires make a huge difference. That said though, Scotty, what the heck kind of tires did he buy that cost $1000 EACH? Did they each come with a hot babe with a happy ending?

BTW, I just googled it, a new set of tires (tyres,... haha, you ex-Brit penal colonists) for a Veyron costs $38,482

So you can now buy 4 VR4's for the price of a tire change on a Veyron.

Max, what tires are you using?

Currently, 265/35/18 Yokohama A048's. Thinking of trying Nitto NT01's next

Scotty, yours seem to be cheaper since they're spelled wrong. They probably tend to lead you over to the wrong side of the road, too, now that I think about it...

Max, the NT-01's are super swamper TSL loud on the highway. Friend with an Evo ran them, he had to put them on a 2nd set of TE37's for auto-x use only, they were way too loud.

Im in love with the whisper quiet Yoko S-drives and in 275/35-18 they are only like 170/ea

That and hydroplaning hazards are the downsides of running R-comps. The A048's are loud suckers too. At lower speeds, they aren't as bad, but over 40mph, you start looking for the tornado because they sound like a tornado warning siren a few blocks away (but the pitch doesn't change unless your speed does). If these tires were around in WWII, people would have probably been running for bomb shelters when you drove by.

The A048's are actually pretty good in the wet. Even on wet roads, they've got some pretty serious traction, te danger is with standing water. If there's standing water 1/2" or deeper, you'd better not be going fast. Even 1/4" of standing water could be bad news at over 80mph.

Yeah, I mentioned this before, but it seems every mod I make to make the car faster also makes it louder and noisier:
- hardcore brake pads = squealing like a stuck pig
- BOV makes loud whistling/whooshing
- poly motor mounts = car vibrates and rattles more
- full turboback exhaust = louder rumble/growl/roar
- tires humming and droning
- carbon clutch groaning and moaning

By the time I get the car as fast as I want it to be, I'll probably need to wear ear protection just to drive around.

Max, ever consider R888's? People I ran with in Vermont had good things to say about them.

Considered R888's but I've heard that the NT-01's may be better for heavier cars like ours. Curious to try 'em out.

Like I said, I wasn't needing a great tyre for wet or dry or racing. :p

Brand: Michelin pilot sports
Size: 245/40/19
Load rating: 98Y - equals 680kg curb weight
Compound: Soft
Performance: Wet or dry road... Sticks like shit to a blanket!
RRP: $1,100 aud each

When I have some more money and the car is tuned and I'm heading to the track, I'll be looking at better tyres. :)

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S in 245/40/18 flavor = expensive. Last time I had to purchase I think they were about $375-400/each.

I have the HTRZ IIIs on the car and got it for 450 installed through a friend of mine. decent summer tire with lots of grip and improved the feel of the car, at the expense of a slightly heavier steering feel.
