i take offense to that. it's HIGHLY depenant on where in florida you're at. and based on my experiences in TN, i would say the same is true there as well.

besides, florida has shooter83; tennessee only has paul. :p

TN has Paul, Wayne, Coop, Justin, Sean, us, and more....

Where I was in Florida, when you went to McDonald they would ask for your order in Spanish first, you had to tell them you only spoke English. I'm not trying to discriminate or anything. Hell, I can't understand some TN folks because they have that "country twang".

And I can't even tell you what they spoke in Milledgeville, GA.. Yes I spent some time there too, and not in the prisons

maybe in miami. there are parts of florida which aren't "infected" with the "let's cater to the immigrants" mentality. and yes, i have a harder time of understanding people in GA than i did in FL.

p.s.

florida also has enollava, es3000tt, digimandan, mastrhu, etc. florida has the record for awd conversions currently. ;)

I can only speak from prior experiences.. but.. Tennessee has too many letters and a shitload of cockroaches.

I moved my cousins from TN to WI about 12 years ago. Their house in TN was ready to be lit on fire. Sooooo many bugs, I couldn't believe it. The hotel I stayed in wasn't much better (and it was a national chain.) You NEED a decent winter to kill unwanted pests.

I've also lived in southern GA while working in GA & FL. I was far from impressed from either state. I could go on for days about this... I'll stop here.

Like I tell people who ask why I moved to TN from SW FL... Florida is nice to visit for short periods of time, but sucks to live there IMO. Eventually you get bored of going to the beach, fishing, golfing, boating, and all the other "fun" stuff to do in Florida. Then your property taxes go up while your home value goes down. Then a hurricane comes through and you cannot get insurance on a house. You spend a fortune for landscaping and nice grass to only have the city tell you "you cannot water it because of water restrictions". And worst of all, you spend $300K+ for a nice house in a gated community where you can literally spit on your neighbors house, and all the houses look the same. You want to put in a walkway to your front door, you need to pull a permit first. You want to put up a fence, you need a permit.

I love TN, I can go out in the back yard and shoot trap/skeet whenever I want. If I want to build a shed out in backyard, I don't need a permit. My home value has only increased since moving here 4+ years ago, but my property taxes have stayed the same. There is NO state income tax, same with FL though. And people around my area are just nice good people. They actually wave, instead of giving you the middle finger when you drive by (known as the florida wave).

A journalist found himself in a country church in Minnesota one early March Sunday.
As the service was over, walking out of the church, he noticed a phone on the wall.
The phone was gold, and the sign next to it stated "Talk to God ... $10,000."
He thought this odd, asked the preacher about it and the preacher confirmed .. "Yes, that's what it takes to have a direct line with the Lord.
The journalist's travels took him all over the U.S., he visited many country churches along the way.
Sure enough, many of them had the same golden phone, and the same sign "Talk to God ... $10,000."
Eventually, his travels brought him to northeast Tennessee.
Again, he's in a country church, but as he's leaving he notices once again .. that same golden phone.
But this time, instead of the sign requiring $10,000, it only asks for 5 cents.
He's most puzzled, and asks the preacher about this, explaining about all of the other churches he'd visited, the call required $10,000.
The preached explained to him .. "Son, thats a local call here, you're in God's country."

With or without the gf?

LOL - with the gf. :) Quite possibly the wife before then. We're finally getting into a groove here, but the people here are too damned self centered and ignorant for me to want to stay here permanently. We're staying long enough to have a decent amount of funds in the bank so that I don't have to worry about getting back to work immediately. Hoping I can stay with my current employer, and just take a leave of absence for a month so I don't feel rushed and get myself situated once I decide to pack up again. This is a long-term goal.

Honestly, I'm not in such a rush to GTFO as I once was. A large pay increase + doing something I enjoy + love my coworkers (no homo) = pretty comfortable right now. When my lease is up I do intend to get out of my current apartment complex just because this place is extremely ghetto, and my cars are taking a beating from idiots that don't have enough respect to watch their doors when they open them. My Focus has lost all it's resale from the scratches and dings I've got from the parking lot here. So I need to get into a decent house where I can work on my cars and not worry about how many new dents I'll have the next morning.

I don't think Memphis should be considered part of TN.. it's more like the 2nd coming of Detroit.

I wouldn't consider moving out of TN if I lived on the East side.. for realz yo..

Let's see.. AZ was my favorite place to live so far (Tucson).. Then comes NJ, then Navarre Beach, FL, then Maryland, then Dela-where?, then Orlando, FL, then Memphis and then Germany.. .. and that's only because it rained too much.. if not for that Germany would have been better..

East TN is where I'll be one day though.. I really need to start looking for jobs with the TVA or something. I LOVE driving/riding through there on my way to NJ.. It's sooo damn nice..

http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/09/28/ohio.birthday.brawl/index.html?iref=NS1

The princess birthday cake for a 3-year-old girl was one of the few things left untouched after a brawl that police said involved 75 people at a hall in suburban Cincinnati, Ohio.

Some 150 people were at a party at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall in Elmwood Place when the fight started early Tuesday, CNN affiliate WCPO reported. Seven police jurisdictions were called in to quell the fighting.

"When (first responding) officers arrived there, it was a pretty intense fight going on inside," Elmwood Place Police Chief William Peskin said. "They actually had to wait until they got backup there in order to make entry because there were so many people throwing bottles and chairs, so they had to actually wait."

Police told WCPO beer bottles were the primary weapons used in the bloody melee. One person in the back threw as many bottles as he could find, Peskin said.

OK, I'll stop now. :D

Hike was great, I now feel 80 yrs old. Outta shape. Met some great ppl at the shelter that night. Linda did great especially considering the elevation level and carrying 35 lbs. Something she's not use to. Got down to 39 degrees, but we faired well. Pics to come...

haha, yeah for the west virginians that live north of the md line. it's all the same beyond there. :D

There's just nothing in Ohio worth mentioning, other than flat land, wind, and the big butter Jesus(which got hit by lightning). :p Well, Cedar Point does rule, but other than that...
