Anybody else seen it? I give it a 9 out of 10.


When long-term congressman Cam Brady (Will Ferrell) commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, a pair of ultra-wealthy CEOs plot to put up a rival candidate and gain influence over their North Carolina district. Their man: naïve Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis), director of the local Tourism Center.

Not the funniest movie I’ve ever seen but it’s up there close to it. I really think it's Will Ferrell’s best movie. He and Zach Galifianakis are just great in this flick. With all the BS of this election it makes this movie even better. I wasn’t even in a good mood when I saw it and I still laughed a lot!

I strongly recommend watching it ASAP.

I thought it was pretty funny. I was kind of doubtful about renting it when I did, but I was surprised when I watched it.

Watched about 45 minutes before taking it back to the movie store and trading it for something else. Some funny parts but we just didn't feel like watching the rest.

ferrell is mostly miss for me. he has about 2 funny sentences total in every movie he does. anchorman was funnier because of steve carell than will farrell. funniest line in "the other guys" wasn't even uttered by farrell. having seen about half a dozen of his movies (night at the roxbury, anchorman, talladega nights, the other guys, land of the lost, megamind) plus countless others he's in (producers, austin powers, shows like "eastbound and down") i feel it's a fair assessment that the man is funnier in a backup or relief role, rather than a starring one. megamind was probably slightly funnier than the rest--and that could well be because his face was never in the movie.

i'd rather watch whitest kids you know. if the candidate is palying out here in dirka-dirkastan...then i'll probably go watch it though. i don't have high hopes.

This is my thought, as well. I saw it on opening day at the theater. Other than the dinner table scene, I wasn't all that impressed. Nowhere near as funny as previous Ferrell movies. Still good, but I was expecting more.

I guess since I didn’t expect much it took me by surprise. I thought it was great. The media and the political tactics they were using on each other reminds me so much of the actual media and politicians. I think that’s what I got the biggest kick out of. I didn't think the dinner table part was that funny. Not the best part anyway.

Well, you're pretty much alone in that thought, from everyone I've talked to. The dinner table scene with the kids was far and away the most hilarious scene of the movie(which is why it was placed in the movie where it was). Beyond that it was tired, obvious, jokes(campaign tactics, media, etc.). There was a couple other funny jokes, but the dinner scene was non stop laughs.

I was expecting comedy on the level of Anchorman, or Old School. The Campaign was a major disappointment vs. those, IMO.

I would tell people...if you saw the preview, then you've seen the movie. I hate movies that show all the good stuff in the trailer. :(

The attack ads for one, the one banging his wife had me rolling. The table seen was funny but sort of kiddy comedy (fart jokes).

Hmm. I found the table scene to be comparable to the table scene(s) in Talladega Nights. You sure you heard everything those kids said at the dinner table? Not something I would classify as fart jokes. It was pretty damn raunchy, lol.

The table scene during Will F dinner reminded me way too much of Talladega Nights. Pretty damn funny though. I also laughed a lot when he left the message on the religious family's answering machine while they were having dinner.

I still laughed pretty hard during the dinner scene, just wasn't my favorite part.

Maybe you should watch it again (red box $1). I didn’t think Talladega nights was very funny until I watched it again.

-couldn't be moved by your inner geek to go see LOTR, Star-Trek 2010, or Promethus?

I mean, granted, there have been some really good movies that I wasn't "sold" on, due to previous movies giving me low expectations (Avengers), but seriously, there have to have been at least a handful of movies in the past 12 years that were totally worth seeing in the theatre, regardless. Hell, I would have watched "Atlas Shrugged" in the theatre if it were actually fricikin playing in my area.

Don't get me wrong, I have a very hard time justifying the cost of seeing a movie in theatres these days, but for something as novel and innovative as the technology of Avatar (and i don't care about the storyline at all), it's worth a $25 ticket price. Besides, that's far cheaper than you'd spend on tickets for 3 hours of watching your "college-team-of-choice" play for 3 hours--and with a memory of the event that's far longer lasting.

I've never seen any of the LOTR movies, Harry Potter, Star-Trek 2010, or Prometheus. I do want to see Prometheus, though. The others...meh, no thanks.

I did actually want to see Avatar in 3D, just never got around to it. I just saw my 1st 3D movie last Friday; Silent Hill: Revelation. We don't have imax here, to my knowledge.

My thought is why do I have an incredible home theater system, just to turn around and go blow $30 at a theater, where I can't eat what I want, can't pause, can't drink, can't smoke, etc?

As soon as I watch a movie, I pretty much forget the whole thing. As for college football, I can recount every second of tearing down the goal post back in 93 when WVU took down #2 Miami.

This is exactly why I rarely go to the movies. I also wanted to see Avatar Imax 3d but just didn't get around to it. I saw all the star wars and I did see the avengers. Unless it's a real eye candy movie I'm really excited about I'll wait.

The closest imax theater to me is 2.5 hours away. If you think I'm investing 8+ hours for a movie...

3D is cool...unless you wear glasses. Horribly uncomfortable having two pairs of glasses on. They really need to rework those glasses to be more like the senior citizen, glaucoma, wrap around, style.

agree. i do wear glasses and it IS a pain. the glasses i've used in the netherlands are much better. and i bought them, so i don't have to worry about how gross they are.

sounds like the arts cinema at the indy fashion mall. the cinema i go to in europe also has generous room, stadium seating, and serves alcohol (there's also a restaruant attached to it).

A lot of the newer ones in Omaha have a restaurant and bar. The one with your own dining spot actually has people that will come out and serve you drinks and dinner during the movie. They have a pretty discrete way of doing it too. It's nice but certainly not necessary.

we have intermissions. you just get up and get a refill. :)
