Got the hook up from our XO who is buddies with the CO of this squadron. We headed out somewhere and got to watch the SEALs do jump practice.
It broke down after the fifth jump. Had to hoof it back to VA Beach with the SEALs.

It is definitely a flying casket but I tell you what, those were the most comfortable jump seats I've ever put my ass in.

They like for you to have a comfortable death. I bet 3 of those flying side by side in the desert look kick ass tho.

Comfortable jump seats....WTF!!
Why would you need comfortable seats in a jump plane?!?!? I guess I just find that a little humorous.... :)

Because coming back from Panama (with the 101st airborne division) in the web seats of a C141 just plain sucks @$$, theres really no nice way to say that!

Ahh... Web Seats. Had that joy in a C130 from BIAP to Kuwait when I was on emergency leave. Sound of the engines put me right to sleep.....LOL
When we re-deployed back to the states I'm pretty sure we were all on a C17 but at least we had somewhat normal seats. Just weird facing the rear of the plane the whole way back. Take off facing backward will fuck with you!!

Indeed it does, although i think you may have been on a C5, but i got out when the 17 came in...does it have the same backwards seats as the C5?!?
i've flown facing backwards for almost 4 years. :p
p.s.
jeff, do you favor keeping the antique 53's in service instead of the v22?

I guess nobody remembers how bad the blackhawk was before the 15 million upgrades it sorely needed. Oh, now's a good time for transmission failure, lets just drop like a spinning rock into the ground and kill all aboard. Again. And again.

I flew from Baghdad to Kuwait on a C-130 in the web jump seats it sucked lol. I also flew in a C-17 redeploying and we flew jump seats then too it sucked. But the Blackhawk ride from COB Spiecher to Baghdad was the most fun I had the whole time in country.

They had surprisingly few teething issues, actually. Helps that it was about as simple as a economy car, lmao. Maint wasn't that great on them (heli's don't fly, they beat the air into submission), but I never got into one and wondered in the back of my mind if it was going to fall out of the sky.

But, the Osprey's look so cool, even when they just sit on the tarmac. Id pay good money just for a ride on one of them!
