I am Going to buy a new output shaft and was wondering if anyone new how these are compared to the 300M ones? I need to buy one in the next day or so and need some input asap. Whats the difference?

I cant find much on quadco, This is all I found that would be able to quantify any details.
"X-R (quadco) Special is a superior substitute for 8620, 4140, 4340 and 6150"
300m steel is, "300M is a low alloy, vacuum melted, steel of very high strength. Essentially it is a modified AISI 4340 steel with silicon, vanadium and slightly more carbon and molybdenum. 300M has a very good combination of strength at 1930–2100 MPa (280-305 ksi), toughness, fatigue strength and good ductility. It is a through hardening alloy."
So quadco is a "superior substitute" to 4340 and 300m is a modified 4340. 280-305 ksi is nothing to sneeze at though, very tough.

so what does that mean? Would i be safe going with that shaft with 500 hp?
You wouldn't break either shaft with any amount of horsepower...
Yeah I dont think anyone has broken 300m shafts, and I dont think they are going to be breaking quadco shafts or spools, either.
From what I've heard, Quadco is stronger than 300m and does not rust as easily as the 300m shaft.
well, I was going to order this and the site was double charging me? wtf?
