Thread: Proof the EBay chips actually do work!

  1. #11
oh yeah, I remember my first car and my first ebay chip.... Sometimes you just gotta test it out to believe it lol. GTwizard youre getting way too technical for this thread. Of course there are good products on ebay. Its just that the performance chips sold on ebay for stock DD's (hondas ahehemmmm) do not add any performance, nor would I actually categorize them as chips. Its just people making money off other people's lack of knowledge and the need for speed.

The Venom 400 adds ZERO power whatsoever. All it does is make the ECU think the throttle position is higher than it is.

Example: At 50% throttle the ECU now sees 75% throttle with the Venom 400 turned on. You now think, hey it takes less throttle to go faster so it MUST have added power.

At 100% throttle, the ECU sees....... you guessed it 100% throttle. It doesn't affect A/F ratio, or readings from the MAS. It just affects the reading from the TPS.

That all being said, the Venom did not cause the catastrphic failure. Your friends failure caused catastrophic failure.

Lol he is an acquaintance. You are damned intelligent stealthee....Is this all in your head, or on google? lol . What do you think cause a rod to go through the pan if the only thing he did was install the Venom?

He probably ran it low on oil, or possibly the extra fuel from the Venom caused the oil to thin out and he spun a bearing so bad it welded the bearing to the crank and the result was the rod rocketing through the pan.

As for knowledge, I learn as I go. If someone asks a question I don't know the answer to I either wait for someone to post the correct answer and try to absorb that into my mind, or I go looking elsewhere for the answer myself.

Haha. I tell you what man, I had a good bit of basic knowledge 8 years ago. I had been around a garage for a long time when I got my Stealth, but never really had to do much diagnosis. I used to call on my dad or other people for diagnosis help. Now they call me.

What they say is true. Making mechanics out of owners since 1991.

It's so damn true! I've always been a pretty good mechanic but since I've owned this thing I have really grown by leaps and bounds.
