    Sub Box

I am needing help confirming a dimension in the hatch area of our 3s.

It would be the width between the wheel wells WITH the trim still installed. I have been going by 39" max but IIRC, that was a little on the small so I knew without a doubt that it would fit.

So anyone who has built a box between there what fits back there snug? Because I want to keep the box below the sunroof, my height is limited to 12.25". So every bit of width I can squeeze in there will help.

You need to clarify your question. The spacing between the strut towers varies with height. And I'm guessing you mean the sun shade that covers the rear hatch area so you can't see behind the rear seats right?

Do you want to keep the back seats? The easiest way is to just pull out the seats and build a platform for the box to sit on. Then you can just go out and buy a generic box from anywhere and stick it right in.

I will be removing none of the interior, except the spare tire stuff.

I have NEVER just gone out and bought a "generic box". A box needs to be built to the specs of the sub that you are using. And no backseat delete for me.

With the exception of the head unit, sub box and tweeter pods. the goal is to hide it. And with the tweeter install, anyone who doesn't know that car would think that they where there from the factory.

It started with a challenge from my best friend, a "stealth" install in a Stealth. At first I just blew it off, but then the thoughts started flowing, and I cursed him but accepted the challenge.

    Should be fun.

Generic as in not made specifically for the car. Obviously you have to use a box to meet the specs of the subs but most sub boxes today are built with this in mind. I wouldn't take it for granted though.

Are you thinking of running a shallow mount sub under the carpet like this...

Or maybe a setup that works with the back seats still installed. I know I have seen it done I just can't find the picture...
