It sounded like there was a high wind in the mic of the video camera. I wonder if that had something to do with it?

At 200+ MPH, it doesnt take much to loose it, the chute might have just pulled it a little, and lost it from there, or even a little groove in the road might have caused it.

Are there any after pics of it?

Yep, looked like the chute pulled him. That's shitty.

From what I've read on Jalopnik, there was apparently a strong cross wind that day.

That really sucks. Those UR cars are soo insane, there's a few videos of the guy locking up the brakes at the end of the track and going sideways. I'll try to find them...

    Edit here...

Looks to me like the crosswind pulled that Lambo off the track. A couple of questions I'm asking myself are, why would track officials allow a pass with high crosswinds like that? 2nd, who deploys a parachute with a 40 knot crosswind going over 250 miles an hour? Last, why aren't cars trapping more than 200+ mph not required to have CF brakes or anything that wont melt or come apart when braking at 250mph speeds?

Good to hear the driver walked away. I suspect after reviewing all the video's the driver would recognize he should have coased and scrubbed some speed first. With a crash like this I'd suspect the Texas Mile rules will change and require vehicles trapping more than 200+ mph to have CF brakes and hopefully be more mindful of crosswinds. It's too bad the lambo had brakes equipped to melt, if he had used them I'd suspect that car wouldn't be scrap metal. It's sad to see a $500,000 lambo get wasted like that.
