AEM 30-2400 boost solenoid - really annoying

Just switched to actually using the boost solenoid - man this thing makes a lot of noise. Clicky-clicky-clicky-clicky. Is that normal? I guess that's the nature of the beast?

I'm going to have to find another place to mount it, it will drive me insane.

yes it is normal! But you can change the frequency that it uses through the aem ems, and minimize the sound that you will hear.

Thanks, I guess mounting this right in front of me on the firewall was not the best idea.

I don't know that system at all so forgive me if I'm out in left field, but can you control the duty cycle based on boost? If so, maybe turn it off until it approaches wastegate boost.

Do you have a sintered muffler on it? Learned last night that a sintered muffler on the third port is to quiet it up.
The AEM boost solenoid is an open type solenoid which makes the noise.

Yeah, for some reason right now it maintains a small duty cycle even in vacuum, like 10% or something. I'll have to familiarize myself with it a little more.

Yeah I have the muffler on there. What I'm actually hearing is the pulse width modulation, you can hear the solenoid being activated/deactivated rapidly. I think it would be OK if it wasn't planted to the firewall.

more than likely you have the solenoid activated when you're in vacuum. there's really no point and that guy gets HOT if it's clicking like crazy when you're just driving around town. doesn't matter if you're using stock actuator or a external WG, just set the duty cycle to 0 when you're in vacuum.
