I spoke with Marco today and know they're an exact fit replacement for EVO III 16G's. They will bolt directly onto a DR, IPS, 3sx, or Titan TD-05 manifold and exhaust setup. What I don't know is are there any issues with mounting? Will the covers and internal gates work or will there be fittment issues?

Trying to weight the differences between MTC stage 3 and the FP Green and Red and am hoping someone has mounted them. Would be awesome if someone had input.

Yes, I want moar!

I am looking to replace my stock seats with a more aggressive seat for track use. When I was at Sebring, the harder I push the car, the more I was holding on to the steering wheel and using my knees to keep me in place.

So, would like to find seats that I can mount low to get more headroom. Also, living in FL, perhaps doing leather would not be a great option. So any feedback as to cloth vs suede (overall wear characteristics, things to think about, etc.) would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone has any pics of race seats installed that are reclining and have high thigh bolsters, please share. Looking at Corbeau TRS seats at the moment.

Thanks in advance.

So I really want to do the road race and autocross this year but I have some things I need to figure out and take care of before I do. I also have a ton of questions.

Maintenance:

Leak somewhere around tranny/tcase area. I have resealed it but I dunno where it's coming from now. Gotta figure it out.

I have a popping noise out of the drivetrain when I get out of first gear. It's not a loud clunk, but a short pop. As if something was bound up and gets freed up or something is loose? I've checked and can't see to find the culprit. Any ideas here?

I think my tires are pretty low. Both rear tires have been plugged once, done correctly plugged from inside. Is this a risk? How much tire will I go through on these events?

What else do I need to do to prep?

Ordered up a front and rear rotor tonight to begin the initial test fitting.

A 4 wheel StopTech kit from Supercar Engineering costs $4,895.00 for the 355x32 Front and 328x28 Rear kit.

Evo X's came standard with 4 wheel Brembo brakes. Sizes are 350x32 Front, and 330x22 Rear. Nearly the same size to the StopTech kit. Used Evo X calipers are $900 on eBay for all 4 calipers. The front calipers are basically identical to the GT500 brakes that have already been figured out.

2008 2010 MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION X GSR BREMBO BRAKE CALIPERS CZ4A EVOX 21K | eBay

Yes, I know adapter brackets will need to be made to mount the calipers, and some modification may be needed to the rotors as well (right now it only appears the rear will need to have the hub hole bored out 10mm in diameter, or possibly a spacer with a hubcentric ring built in as the hat height is more on the EvoX than the 3/S). The calipers should fit no problem, as I have 2G 18" wheels.

I also understand the issue with the e-brake in the rear. That's why I got the rotors first to test fit. The Evo X also used a rear drum setup for the e-brake, so I am hoping that it may work. If not, that will be an obstacle that will have to be over come as well.

But, right now so far the costs I've added up equal to:

$900 - Calipers
$200 - Rotors (from RockAuto, not the best, but good quality blanks)
$370 - Pads

So far thats $1470 for a BBK. I know a guy who owns a machine shop where I can make adapter brackets, and spacers if I need them. So even if that costs me $530 I'll have a BBK nearly equivalent in size to StopTechs for less than half the cost.

Worth a shot to me at least. The last thing I will get is the other 2 rotors, and the pads. I can always sell the calipers for the same price I bought them for, and I'd only be out the cost of 1 front and 1 rear rotor. I will keep this thread updated with pictures and details along the way! :)

Some info from research I've done already:

The total piston area of the VR4 front calipers is 5441.25mm^2 (2@40.4 and 2@42.8). The rears are 2280mm^2 (2@38.1). This means the bias is 2.39:1

The total piston area of the Evo X front calipers is 5837mm^2 (2@40 and 2@46). The rears are 2513.2mm^2 (2@40). This means the bias is 2.32:1. A little bit more rear bias but very close to stock. It's a 2.7% shift to the rear.

However the pad area is also larger on the Evo Brakes compared to the VR4 brakes.

So all of this put together means they are most certainly an upgrade from stock.

Plus I'm an engineer, so part of the fun of this project is figuring it out :w00t:

If and WHEN I do get it all figured out, I wll post the dimension of the spacers and brackets. I am not at all in this for a business. I just want better brakes and to figure it out. So once it's done I will post the specs so people can get there own adapters made :)

I will also keep this thread updated with pictures as I go.

Standalone Tactrix open port 2.0 Datalogging

The openport 2.0 cable supports an amazing feature. You can insert a micro sd card into the device and with the appropriate setup it will...

The openport 2.0 cable supports an amazing feature. You can insert a micro sd card into the device and with the appropriate setup it will automatically output log files in the root folder.

The main thing you need to get started is an appropriate logcfg.txt in the root folder of the micro sd card. Insert the micro sd card into the tactrix openport 2.0 and then plug the openport's usb cable into your computer. The sd card will now show up as a drive letter, this is how you will add the logcfg.txt and retrieve your logs later.

There are many options in the logcfg.txt file, but below I have a very simple one that will play fairly well with Greg's chromed mods, namely support of wideband logging and the 2 byte load logging.

Thanks to a poster on geekmapped I had a good start by using a evo 5/6 file. It uses similar logging and parameters to us. I modified the file to point to a few of our specific parameters. The o2 parameters have recently been discovered to not be named correctly, once the new evoscan data files are released I will edit the code below to reflect the changes.

There is one special thing you need to do. Evoscan support logging 2 requests IDs at the same time for one value. This is in part how the 2 byte load logging is possible. Unfortunately I am not currently aware of a way to do this in the logcfg.txt file, so what I have done is logged request 2 and request 3 seperately and I use excel to combine them with this formula:

Code:

=((I2*256) + J2) *5/16

where I2 is request 02 column and J2 is request 03 column.

Then you'll have the option to start logging when you want:

Code:

conditionrpn = TPS,10,>
action = start
;

I have mine set to log all the time by starting at 10% or above, but once my tune is more solid I will consider increasing this to a higher value to keep from logging constantly.

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas or changes to make. You can add parameters to your logcfg.txt as you see fit.

I am a noob at working on these things, but thought I'd share this data because it did take me a while to put all this together and the standalone logging is extremely useful. I have tested this on my car, but not extensively, so if there are any errors please report. Keep in mind the cable will not log standalone if it is plugged into your computer at the same time.

Code:

; sample logging configuration file for openport 2.0
; must be named logcfg.txt and be placed in the root directory of the
type=mut2

; you can also set an OBD pin to a voltage, ground, or a high impedance state
; the first number is the OBD pin number, the second number is the pin voltage with the following values:
;
; 8000-18000 : voltage in millivolts for OP2 Rev C and earlier
; 5000-25000 : voltage in millivolts for OP2 Rev D and later
; -1 : set pin to high impedance (default state)
; -2         : pull pin to ground
;
; keep in mind that if you are applying a non-zero voltage to more than one pin, all of those voltages
; must be the same

; the following setpinvoltage sets OBD pin 1 to ground, which is needed to enable logging on older Mitsubishis
; it is commented out as it is not needed for newer models (e.g. EVO 8/9)

There is no easy way to say this, so I'm just going to put it out there.

First, the good news. NG12 is coming along nicely. We have almost everything in place, a FANTASTIC t-shirt design (thank you, Traci!), and I'm quite certain we'll have perfect weather.

The bad... Our registrations are down. I'm afraid I've failed you...

The ugly... Unless we get a lot of last-minute registrations, this WILL be the last NG. There is a location and plan in place for NG13 should the situation change, but as of right now... We have to make some very difficult decisions about the future of the NG. Alan and I can't sink any more money into the event. We did that for a couple of years, then it became self-sufficient again. This year it's not, and we can't afford to save it.

If you're planning to attend, please register SOON. The decision will be made when registration closes. If you're planning to attend but don't plan to register on-line, maybe you could drop me an email or a PM and let me know. It's important to budgets AND to the decision about next year.

If you're not planning to attend, you may wish to reconsider. It truly looks as though this will be the last.

There you have it.

Oh man! I want to snag a 3.75" gm mas for a draw thru setup (yes, I am aware that they are prone to leaking, but I don't expect it to be much of an issue if I go draw thru). I did some searching and believe it is the ls6 mas, but might anybody know a part number? Even when I search for ls6 I come up with the 85mm mas which is just shy of 3.5"....or am I mistaken and that is the 3.75" unit?

25318411 that's the gm part number I have come up with so far, but one source says it is the ls6 mas and another an 85mm...man, I'm so confused.
